Look out for shiny tar (glazed creosote) in your stoves as this is extremely dangerous and requires specialist equipment and chemical treatments to remove correctly 😲

When was the last time you had your AGA swept? If, at all? Lots of people saying they have been over 20/25years without an AGA sweep as they think this is part of a service. It is not. You might have regular services but the flue will most likely never get swept and of course this is extremely dangerous… Please get in touch if you are wanting an AGA inspection and sweep for your safety ☺️

I thought this was an interesting find… found on 6th November 2025, 60 years old and strangely the Gloucestershire Echo, which I was in this time 5 years ago 😆

I tried to straighten out as much as I could but the paper was so delicate it was a bit of a challenge not to tear it - it’s spent the last 60 years up an old damp Victorian chimney 🤩

PSA to all my lovely customers/followers please make sure you are burning dry seasoned logs (preferably from a trusted supplier) you shouldn’t be burning anything over 20% moisture, nothing treated/painted and pleaseeee no pallets… 🪵

This is all creates glazed creosote which I have shown in these pictures.

This leads you to having chimney fires and if not removed properly and swept at least once a year your flue will continue to build up until it blocks up completely, leading to even more problems/damage

I got called in to check the condition of this disused chimney in an old shop- 5 bags later and it’s clean!… 😄
