Just a reminder to all my customers to please have the courtesy of cancelling your cleans if you're ill with a transmissible illness or at least give me the opportunity to decide for myself if I want to come and clean for you. If you are too ill to work or your child is too ill to go to school, then you're too ill for me to come into your home to clean.

I turned up this morning to a very ill customer, who was coughing and snotting all over the place, had been ill for a week and was still unable to swallow, so ill I could hear it when he spoke, and he was concerned enough to be phoning the doctors for help.

I do not want your germs, and I do not appreciate not being forewarned.

To put it politely, it actually annoys me, and here's why;
-If I am ill, I don't work, if I don't work, I don't earn, if I don't earn, I don't pay my bills.
-I don't get sick pay, I am self employed, so unless you are paying for all my missed cleans then don't make me ill.
-I have a husband who lives with a chronic condition and struggles to fight infections, each infection damages him further. I dont want to be the cause of my husband fighting an illness.
-I work with babies, young children, pregnant mums and the elderly, passing things on could be life threatening.

And whilst I'm on the subject; Chicken pox, it isn't a simple childhood illness, and as I have never had chicken pox it is likely to be worse than it would be if a small child was to have it. And to repeat, I work with babies, pregnant mums and the elderly, chicken pox is a serious illness for them to catch also.

Please think about the bigger picture.

Thank you, Kat 😊

You all know me and drains...I've been trying to pull this drain out for months and it would not budge, so instead I've been cleaning what I could get to with a brush. Today I thought 'this is coming out even if it takes me half an hour!' It only took me three good tugs and it came free, so why has it been putting up such a fight for all this time!

Persistence is key! πŸ˜„

This is a soppy appreciation post, for all my customers.
Phew! It has been busy trying to catch up after having two weeks away and it's been lovely seeing lots of you and all my fluffy friends this past week.
Prior to going away after Christmas I was given a 'holiday goody bag' from a customer, full of luggage tags, plugs, scales and other bits and bobs, such a thoughtful gift and just amazing to be thought of; I was truly spoilt by all of you at Christmas time, that in itself is lovely and always appreciated; on the 29th of January I arrive at another customers house to this stunning bouquet of flowers to celebrate my special birthday that was 16 days prior, she had them delivered to her house for when I arrived to clean. It was a full on surprise and I'm not often lost for words. It blows me away that I'm thought of in this way, it really does.
I'm so lucky to have you all in my life, I don't have family, but each household I clean for is special to me and I appreciate as always that you welcome me into your homes, trust me to be there and treat me as a close friend/part of your family.
Thank you as always, for the deep chats, the laughs, the cups of tea and treats. And just thank you for being the reasons I get up and leave my house every day. You are all more than just people who's houses I clean.
I hope this year makes you all full and happy and brings you every thing you need.

Happy Christmas Eve!

I finished with my fortnightly customers yesterday and completed everything I needed to do for home last night. So today I was clear of chores and tick lists to spend it celebrating my eldest's birthday and I've been chilling to Christmas films all evening. Bliss.

I am so ready for this time off, I've never wanted or needed a break so much, I definitely need to recharge. πŸ₯±

Back on the 5th of January.

Here's a picture of Ted dressed up for Christmas. Isn't he handsome 😍

I have been snapping away at some of your lovely Christmas trees for the past few weeks and I've even included mine (2nd to last) 🀭 just joking that one belongs to Tatton Hall; mine is the last oneπŸŽ„

I have two more full days of fortnightly cleans before I can hang up my apron for Christmas. I spent today giving my home a deep clean; cleaned the oven, fridge, wiped down cupboard fronts, skirting, pulled out furniture to dust/vac/mop, changed the bedding, and had the washer on a few times I don't know why I need to do it but it calms my mind knowing everywhere is dust free and clean. Now I'm sat with a cuppa, watching a candle flicker and waiting for my roast salmon to cook. 🐟

Still to ice the Christmas cakes (was meant to be todays job but whatever), wrap ALL the presents for my household and do the remainder of the food shop.πŸ₯΅

So with that I want to thank all of my customers for another year of your continued custom. Thank you for keeping me busy and active. Thank you for the laughs and the friendships and for keeping things interesting. Wishing you all a magical Christmas time, hope it's filled with love, laughter and happiness and I will see you all in the new year. ⭐

4 more days! Eeek! πŸŽ…πŸ€Ά

Cosy lighting in a customers new built home 😍

I am still cleaning, I've just no photos of that - I'm just too busy! πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ thank you as always to all my customers for keeping me so busy ❀

I am currently fully booked and have no availability and my Christmas and New Year rota is set and confirmed.

Less than 4 weeks to go. (Excited!) I'm starting my Christmas cakes today! πŸ˜‹ and maybe, starting to put up my decs over the next two dayπŸŽ„ (two weeks earlier than usual, much to the husbands look of disgust πŸ˜†)

Enjoy the rest of the weekend, hope you're doing something that makes your heart happy 😊

Say hello to Ralph, my latest best bud and newest customer - isn't he just beautiful! He is 17 months old and such a good boy. He's settled into this family really well in the two weeks I've seen him, calmed down a lot and has already made the family's older Lab so much happier and more content. Seeing a change in Samson and watching his and Ralph's bond is so heart-warming πŸ₯°

This is so sad, and I had a feeling it was coming. It's a beautiful little shop stuffed full with beautiful things from cards, candles and trinkets to lamps, cushions and furniture. If you've never been, pay them a visit. Not far from the retail park at Walton-le-dale.

πŸ’œ A Heartfelt Message from Lilac Tree πŸ’œ

This isn’t an easy post to write…

As many of you know, we pour our heart into Lilac Tree. Every display, every re-loved piece of furniture, every card and gift is chosen with love and care. But the truth is, things have been really tough lately. Despite trying everything I am doing, or have done the shop just isn’t doing very well.

Unless things improve, we will sadly have no choice but to close Lilac Tree by the end of the year.

I don’t want this to be the end β€” not just for us but for the little community we’ve built here together. So if you’ve been meaning to pop in, or if you’re looking for a thoughtful card, gift, or something unique for your home, please think of us. Every purchase, no matter how small, truly makes a difference.

We are not embarrassed, and we will tell you how it is. I think it's only fair. For 12 months we have struggled, and have just about kept our heads above water, but sadly that water is now getting deeper and deeper. Things have changed in the way people shop, I understand that, but think about where you will buy your next gift from? If we have it, we will giftwrap it for free, and you don't get that on AMAZON!!! It isn't just us, I have read today about two local businesses in the exact same position.

Share this post, share any post you see from any local business. Without you, we won't be here.

I'm going to give it one last push... There's some new gifts coming in, and we will have a little move around but Christmas just won't be happening unfortunately.

We will be having a little sale to keep things ticking over, you get a bargain, and we get to pay our rent πŸ˜”

Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who has supported us so far.
