We sat down with Laurence, our sales & marketing Manager, to get his thoughts on whether a hot tub is a good idea for your rental property 🏡
Q: Is it worth putting a hot tub in my rental
property?
A: In a word, YES. Google searches for “air bnb with hot tub”, “holiday cottage with hot tub”, “UK holiday with hot tub”, have all seen a dramatic increase over the last few years. From May to June the above phrases have jumped up by around 23% and the phrase “lodge with hot tub” is getting 135,000 hits per month. Give the people what they want and be sure not to miss out on the latest trend as its only set to increase.
Q: What costs are involved with having a hot tub
in my business?
A: Running a hot tub in your business comes with some added cost to your operation. You have the extra electricity usage (as low as 85p per day based on current UK energy price cap), ongoing maintenance and service costs, chemicals and time spent maintaining it. However, if you account for this additional cost within your room rates you will offset it, see an increase in enquiries which leads to an increase in bookings and secure yourself a steady trade throughout the colder months.
Q: How much does a hot tub cost to run?
A: The daily running costs of hot tubs can vary wildly depending on the quality of the components, the insulation and the surrounding climate. Our spas are all manufactured by Master Spas in the USA. They use the latest energy efficient components and a unique full foam insulation that maintains its thermo-insulation properties for the lifetime of the spa and not just for the first couple of years. We do have estimated manufacturers standby running costs for all of our spas. Under test conditions, The Getaway 4, comes in at 86p per day to run. Of course, this could increase if the lid was left off all day or if the spa was in use for hours on end or perhaps if the weather was particularly chilly.
