Right, so March marks 45 years since Abbey Window Cleaning took the cleaning world by storm! These were the days when a ladder was considered cutting edge and a squeegee was high-tech.

We planned a proper cake smash this year with the whole team (balloons, bow ties, the works!) but logistics got the better of us so we thought we’d do it in cartoon form!

Massive thanks to the whole team past and present and to every customer who’s been with us on this ride.

Here’s to 45 more 💙🎉🎂🩵

It feels like spring is on its way and we’re here for it! 🌤️

Somehow (and we’re still not entirely sure how) Abbey Window Cleaning and Nic’s Gutters have ended up on the front cover of Window Talk magazine, the official publication of the Federation of Window Cleaners 🤩

What started as a local family window cleaning business has grown into Abbey Window Cleaning and the launch of Nic’s Gutters… including specialist work at Chester Zoo (including a bat cave🦇).

It’s a huge honour to have our work recognised by the Federation of Window Cleaners. This is an organisation that does a massive amount for safety, training and raising standards across our industry. Being featured by them is a proper milestone for our business and you know Nic is already at Homesense looking for the biggest frame they sell for the office wall! There’s even talk of this getting printed on all the vans 😳

Big thank you to the FWC for the feature and an even bigger thank you to all our customers who continue to support us and trust us with their homes and businesses.

Surely this is proof that if you stick at something long enough… even a window cleaner can end up in a magazine 😂

Before we hang up the poles and disappear for Christmas, we just wanted to say a huge thank you!

2025 has been a busy and memorable year for Abbey Window Cleaning.

🏆Celebrated Terry’s retirement after nearly 45 years in the trade setting the bar for us all
👊🏼Took on a charity zipline because saying yes first and thinking later felt right
✨Welcomed loads of new commercial and residential customers
🥇Picked up some awards along the way (we did smile about that)
🌪️Launched Nic’s Gutters , because one business clearly wasn’t enough (NicsGutters.com 💚)

We’ve been lucky enough to work for some brilliant people this year and we’re really grateful for every booking, recommendation and bit of support.

Today marks the end of an era here at Abbey Window Cleaning as our founder (and Nic’s dad) Terry turns 70 and officially hangs up his squeegee for the last time, to start his well-earned retirement.

Terry started Abbey Window Cleaning back in 1981 armed with just a bucket, a squeegee and a determination to provide for his wife and four children. Come rain or shine he built our business from the ground up, earning a great reputation for his hard work, reliability and friendly nature.

Although Dad stepped down as the owner a couple of years ago he’s continued working with us up until last week, still out there cleaning windows professionally and doing what he’s always done best.

Fast forward nearly 45 years, and Abbey Window Cleaning has grown into a five-star rated, award-winning local business serving hundreds of homes every month. The company has modernised and expanded a lot in recent years but it all began with Terry’s dedication and strong work ethic. These values shape what we do today.

We’re all incredibly proud of what he’s achieved and are thankful for the foundation he built. Now it’s time for him to enjoy a bit of rest and plenty of time watching his beloved Arsenal!

Happy Birthday and enjoy your retirement, Dad. You’ve more than earned it 💙

🚀Exciting News from Nic!🚀

After the better part of two decades with Abbey Window Cleaning, I’ve decided it’s time to add something new to the mix! I’m proud to announce the launch of my new business – Nic’s Gutters.

Abbey Window Cleaning has given me an incredible reputation I’m really proud of so don’t worry I’m not going anywhere! I still run and own the business and will be working with my amazing team every day, to deliver the same excellent, five star service across Chester and beyond.

Over the years I’ve developed a passion for the other side of exterior cleaning too. The hands-on jobs like roof cleaning and moss removal, gutter clearance and the nitty gritty stuff.
That’s where Nic’s Gutters comes in! It’s a completely separate business focused 100% on these specialist services and others like drone surveys and scaffold hire.

At Nic’s Gutters, I stick to the same principles I’ve always lived by:

🌪️Be honest.
🌪️Do the job properly.

My same standards, same values, same commitment to quality and my name above the door.

This is a clean slate (literally!) and I can’t wait to show you what’s next.
