I'm going to start this post, and finish the post with the same carpet cleaning tip 👇

- PLEASE throw out your Vanish/1001 like products, or other high foaming "covering" agents. Bicarbonate of soda does not clean or remove stains. White wine does not remove or cancel out red wine, and while white vinegar can be effective at removing certain stains or rust marks, you won't get rid of the smell for weeks among other potential issues.

Unless you have one of the specific chemicals made for pet urine or pet mess, which uses enzymes to break down the stain, the best thing to do is to leave it and call in the professionals. Please don't add *ANYTHING* to dog mess, human mess, vomit, anything from either end of anything living or dead. It *always* makes it worse, and at best it covers the stain without bonding to it for full removal (this will bleach colouration, leave smells and shorten the life of the surface). It needs enzymes or an enzymatic pre treatment, and extraction every time.

It is extremely hard to remove a protein based stain that has been bonded and covered by vanish or 1001, yet virtually *ALL* stains or marks are 100% removable if nothing is used by the customer, and you hire a trained professional.

Four years ago my professional advice would have been that these stains are now permanently bonded stains, and the solution would of been new carpet or a profesional repair. Nowadays we can, after much training, experience and sourcing the right chemical for the right stain nothing is impossible!

This specific job was doggy diarrhea and Vanish. What was a one hour job turned into 3 hours and cost the customer much more than if nothing was used at all. Happy to advise if you want to do it yourself with a home machine 😎

Home cleaning hack 005:
Pet hair staying even after a good vac? Try using rubber gloves. When your standard vacuum doesn’t seem to get all your pet’s hair, rubber gloves will get the job done. Just slide them on and rub down any areas that need extra cleaning. When rubber is pushed against fabric, it can generate elasticity to gather remaining pet hair. Rinse the gloves under running water when you’re done and the hair will unstick.

Home cleaning hack 004:
Dirty microwave getting you down? clean your microwave is by putting a clean, dampened sponge or cloth on the tray and setting it on high for two minutes. This will kill bacteria. Then use sponge or cloth to wipe down the microwave. Simples.

Home cleaning hack 003:
Essential oils make a sparkling toilet. Mix one cup of baking soda with 15 drops of tea tree essential oil and 15 drops of lemon or orange essential oil. Let the mixture sit in the bowl for 30 minutes and scrub with a bowl brush before flushing.

Home cleaning hack 002:
Bad smell from the sink garbage disposal? To clean and deodorise garbage disposals, use a fresh lemon or lime. Cut the citrus fruit into quarters, and while you have the water running put the lemon pieces one by one into the disposal.

Home cleaning hack 001:
Olive oil is a great option for cleaning stainless steel, such as pots, pans and appliances. Put olive oil on a soft cloth and rub in a circular motion to buff out any dirty spots.
