Why setting boundaries can feel so difficult…
A client once shared:
“I feel guilty every time I try to say no.”
And that really says a lot.
For many people, boundaries feel uncomfortable because:
⁃ you worry about disappointing or upsetting others
⁃ you fear rejection or conflict
⁃ you’ve learned to put others first
So you say yes… even when it comes at a cost to your own happiness or wellbeing ..
But boundaries aren’t about shutting people out or pushing them away, they’re about making sure you don’t lose yourself in the process. It’s natural for it to feel hard or uncomfortable, but you’re still allowed to have limits.
