Many customers don’t realise that each fire has (or should have) a separate flue from the fireplace to chimney pot, and believe they all flow into one chimney. This lovely photo of a partly demolished tenement building brilliantly shows how each chimney is separately ‘weaved’ through the structure of the building.

Recommendation please for a company who ‘re-cements’ the inside of existing chimneys (you know what I mean!).

Wrong time of year to take a couple of days off, but thought Mrs Sweep could do with a break.
We are the proud owners of 'Dylan' (for 3 days anyway), a 1962 VW "Splitty". Doesn't go more than 45mph, and to say it has brakes is stretching a point, but great fun and beautiful. Like driving a piece of artwork.

I am delighted to tell you that I have now formed a Business Association with a HETAS qualified and registered wood and multi fuel stove installer.
This allows me to provide a more complete service to my customers, from sweeping their chimney or existing stove, through to installation of a new or replacement stove and flue.
In addition, we will also offer repairs or upgrades to fireplaces and hearths, maintenance of chimney stacks and pots, plus fitting of new cowls.
I pride myself on doing a thorough and professional job, and would only have become associated with someone of like mind. We will try and be as competitive in our pricing as we can, but bear in mind we will only use and install quality products.

Still appointments available this side of Christmas, so give me a call to fix one up, or risk Santa getting a sooty bottom!! It's going to get colder from the end of the week, which is sure to set the phone ringing, so get in quick. Also, I am now offering a chimney cowl supply and fitting service. These protect your chimneys from rain, and prevent birds from taking up residence by building a nest in your flue, which can completely block your chimney and lead to a house full of smoke when you try to light your fire or stove. Nests are also expensive to get rid of, and the cost to supply and fit a cowl will almost certainly be cheaper.
