Efficient dead ash tree removal earlier this week. Sadly this is a regular occurrence for us as 80% of ash trees across the UK are infected and dying with Ash Die back (Hymenoscyphus fraxineus)

If you suspect your ash tree has Dieback here’s a few things to look out for:

🍃 Leaves develop dark patches in the summer.
They then wilt and discolour to black.

🍃 Leaves might shed early.

🍃 Dieback of the shoots and leaves is visible in the summer.

🍂 Lesions develop where branches meet the trunk, These are often diamond shaped and dark brown.

🍂 Inner bark looks brownish grey under the lesions.

🍂 New growth from previously dormant buds further down the trunk. This is known as epicormic growth and is a common response to stress in trees. (The tree is dying from the top down, the lower crown appears healthy).

Before all this rain set in we had a nice sunny morning out with Burnside Stove Co last week, installing a rather awkward flu liner on this lovely property.

The best part of working with a spider lift is that narrow access isn’t an issue. Our lift squeezes down to an impressive 790mm wide, which means a standard garden gate is no obstacle for this awesome machine.

Interesting job from yesterday. Removing this small buddleia from a chimney stack.

All cut back and killed off, ready for some repointing.

Up and down in 15mins definitely quicker and a lot safer then other methods.

It was great to relieve this Robinia of all the mistletoe that had been plaguing it for the last several years.

One clump left up the top for our little friend🐦🥚

Unfortunately this is not a permanent fix but atleast this will prevent any limbs breaking off and give it some breathing room until the next time.
