We’re proud to announce we have been shortlisted for not one but two awards. We are in the running for Plastics Recycling Business of the year and Best Use of Design & Tech at the prestigious Awards for Excellence in Recycling & Waste Management. Can we make it a double celebration?🤞
Good luck to all the other finalists💜

We have an app! 💜 💚
If it is not a true sustainable swap you will get an avatar of the synth pop- duo, The Communards, who will sing “Don’t leave me this way”.
FREE woven, celery tote bag or with every download.
Interested? 😉
👉How it works: You can now scan different packaging as you shop, with our iPhone app to see if your swaps REALLY is more sustainable, before you switch from recycled plastic to something else to reveal your avatar.

Happy Mother's Day to all the amazing Mums out there.
Let us also acknowledge those who are no longer with us and those who are due to be but not yet, and make sure we keep our loved ones close today.

Images like this can paint quite a picture.
Dumping plastic waste in other countries is something we do not stand for and last year 29% was exported to non- EU OECD countries.
🌏Better than previous years but still not enough is being done.
When it comes to recycling UK Gov has ambitious targets.
This includes:
👉 A “target” of eliminating avoidable plastic waste by end of 2042.
👉 Reforming the UK packaging producer responsibility system (UK-wide).
👉 Consistency in household and business recycling (England).
Government focus is crucial, and although there has been growth in UK plastics recycling capacity as a result of funding, this needs to be accelerated to continue to be able to handle large volumes and support keeping it in the UK.
Thoughts?

Let’s talk paper straws. It is appreciated there are people who NEED to use straws by way of a necessity as they cannot drink without help.
👉So let's keep the debate to the introduction of paper straws by brands in a bid to try and be "more sustainable."
👉Paper straws require growing a tree, cutting it down, and pulping and pressing it and transporting it. Many are not recyclable or compostable.
👉We do not advocate plastic straws either.
It has been a while since we have debated this and we like to hear what you think.....💜 💚

Today is Global Recycling Day. Meet some of our Blaine, Archie and Oscar.
Got any pics of your own Recycling Heroes? We'd love to see them.
It's never too early to start learning how the small things we do can make a big difference. 💜 💚

Meet just a few of our own Recycling Heroes. Today is Global Recycling Day, so we are giving a big shout out to our behind the scenes team of technical superheroes, plastic protectors and Guardians of the Green.
It is our mission to ensure recycled plastic provides a quality, sustainable and CSR-friendly alternative to virgin plastic.
Great message from Buxton. We can safely say no "pour" decisions were made when it came to this bottle's labelling.
Spotted any good examples of bold and clear recycle messaging? We love to see your examples of "the good, the bad and the ugly" in packaging ♻️
Aside from the fact that all their packaging is fully recyclable (even the cap,) we love Buxton's commitment to sustainability, including the partnership with Derbyshire Wildlife Trust that aims to increase biodiversity, and that the factory is powered by renewable energy.
We doff our plastic cap to you people of Buxton Water !

One is glass, the other plastic.
Does does this surprise you?

Congratulations to our very own Head of Operations, Nicola Taylor, who has worked at BGP for 24 years! 💜💚
Along with Nicola joining us, here’s a few other things that have happened on March 9th…
Anyone got any more?

So this is a biggie. Let's discuss packaging in the fast fashion industry.
🛍️ ♻️
The fashion industry are clearly making an effort to be more sustainable with their packaging, by using recycled paper. Except, paper bags require four times as much energy to manufacture as plastic bags.*
Then, there’s the individual polybags for each garment.
Polybags are not easily recyclable, and so may end up in landfill.
Apparently 72% of this type of packaging is thrown away. (Ellen MacArthur Foundation)
When it comes to supply chains, the challenges to be more sustainable are complex.
There is a need to protect the clothing in transit – clothes being ruined before being worn isn’t sustainable.
📣So what is the solution here?
📣Garment bags made from recycled plastic offers a viable option.
📣Reducing unnecessary plastic by putting clothing into fewer/ smaller bags offers another.
Discuss.

At BGP we say no to gender bias, discrimination and stereotyping.
We have a high % of women in the management team, because they are just great at what they do and what is really great about them? They are not afraid to challenge.

At Bright Green, we’re proud to contribute to the circular economy with our innovative waste solutions. We do this using a world-class recycling process, which turns recycled plastic back into a raw material for producers. We recycle and supply a range of recycled plastics to both consumer and commercial customers. The main materials we handle include:
From this plastic waste, we use our state-of-the-art manufacturing process to transform the material into recycled compounds.
Where appropriate, our unique BrightFusion™ engineered mineral additive can be added. This ensures that the recycled polymers can be used in engineered applications.
All products are designed for specifically targeted applications. This means that the material we recycle will always be highly useful for our customers.
We also do custom compounding against an internally defined, controlled specification. In some cases, we can even work to an agreed customer specification. The compounds are suitable for a number of industries, including construction, packaging, automotive and horticulture.
