Soooooo
Here is a bit of an update and one which 6 weeks ago I did not see coming
RooFresh is in it's 4th year and to say it started from zero is very much on the money.
In fact it started as RJ Cleaning Services NI and was a side hustle alongside a full time job. It grew legs within a few months leading to a rebrand when I realised cleaning roofs was something I liked. I also realised the market for it in Northern Ireland had a bad rep. I genuinely wanted to help change the landscape a bit along with others.
It has changed significantly and RooFresh got so busy it ended up fulltime alongside a full time job. 2024 was a big test to ensure the demand was there and it was. When I got into 2025 I made the decision to put all my focus and effort into Roofresh and it was absolutely fantastic. By September things were flying and I FINALLY managed to get two decent workers worth their weight in gold. Anyone that has followed this page or tiktok knows I have been brutally honest about the challenges around workers.
Through October and Novemveber we had a few frustrating setbacks. It happens and I have come to realise that. However, mid November along with the setbacks, I became extremely sick and I had not realised until then I had never had a day off. My two workers, for differing reasons could not be insured on the van and it was only when I was sick I realised the van could not run if I was out of action, for any reason.
I would say that is when I had a bit of an epiphany. I am a very decisive person and I started some serious thinking because I always had the option of going back to my employment. For a while there, I kept things running normally so the two guys had work while I sought opportunities for them with a couple of friendly competitors I have come to truly respect. Jobs were sorted and at that moment pressure was off a bit.
The decision was made to stop cleaning roofs primarily due to the cost of doing it safely and legitimately as a one person operation. That, as well as I am just getting older!!!
RooFresh doesn't work if roofs are not being cleaned and after some discussion it is now under new management. Great management to be completely honest but I will leave any transition etc up to them. I had received contact from a few who were interested in having RooFresh but it was hard to let go as I am very personally invested in it. The new owner has the right mindset. They have been in business for years. They genuinely put the customer first. They have an outstanding record. They are the right fit.
The page is being kept and renamed "Rob's Gutters" (for now) and the primary service will be gutter cleaning. Anything RooFresh related will move over but to be compeltely honest there will not be much change in how things are done. I wish the new owner all the best. I want to thank all that have used RooFresh over the last number of years or even just followed the page.
You made me realise I could still achieve something. Started as nothing. I know it is not big headed to say it became one of the more respected names in Roof Cleaning in NI
