A huge well done to Leanne Waddington, our Kitchen Team Leader at Staveley Primary School, for going above and beyond and truly bringing “Creativity to Life” during yesterday’s themed activity day! 👏🎨🌟

Leanne took the initiative to create personalised colouring posters for the children, helping to make the day even more engaging, interactive, and memorable. The feedback from the school and children was fantastic, with the activity creating a real buzz and adding something extra special to the experience.

A great start in a new role 👏

One of our team, Kim, has been busy at All Saints Primary School in Newton Heath, launching a brand new salad bar just days after stepping in as Area Manager.

After speaking with staff and understanding that pupils wanted more choice, her focus was to create something fresh and exciting. With some quick training for the kitchen team and a few creative touches, the new salad bar was ready to go.

The response? A big success. The children loved it.

Even better, it’s sparked wider engagement across the school with pupils saying it’s made them keen to try something new each day, teachers planning classroom projects to make posters to decorate the area and the school council popping in to give their feedback.

It’s a great example of how small changes can make a big impact.

We are running a biscuit bake off each week within our teams, and last week’s winner was Mandy from St James Rusholme with her fabulous Anzac oaty biscuits, chosen by the Director himself to make it fair!

We called in with some brewing-up supplies for the team to celebrate the win.

A huge well done to Vicki and Gamma whose hard work at St Mark’s in Wigan has earned a fantastic 5-star food hygiene rating.

The team at the school were so impressed that they created this brilliant graphic to celebrate their achievement, now proudly displayed for everyone to see. It’s also been shared with parents in the school newsletter, a lovely recognition of the care and consistency they bring every day.

It’s moments like this that really show the impact Orian's dedicated catering teams have within schools.

In just one week (02–06 February 2026), Orian served 84,930 meals through our School Hub system — including 583 allergy-free meals.

Every one of those meals matters, particularly for children with allergies, where the right processes and safeguards are essential.

From September 2026, new statutory guidance will require all schools in England to strengthen how they manage allergies. It’s a significant and very welcome step forward in protecting children and supporting schools to manage food allergies more effectively.

For organisations like ours, it reinforces the importance of robust systems, clear information and careful preparation to ensure every child can eat safely and confidently at school.
