Something for customers to be aware of. The Stove needed to be replaced as it had failed. The Chimney was lined when the stove was installed, but was not registered with Hetas or the local authority and the landlord did not have any paperwork or documentation on the liner. Because of this, even though it was only a few years old, because of insurance purposes and a correct procedure that I need to be follow as a fully trained competent person in the solid fuel industry, with replacement of a wood burner to a current in situ liner. The liner had to be removed and discarded and a new liner installed. Once installed the new stove could be fitted, liner registered with Hetas and the local authority, a data plate fitted and correctly positioned carbon monoxide detector.
If you have a builder, Roofer, general handyman, your dad, your brother or even install it yourself. If it is not registered with Hetas or local authority, you will find your household insurance will be void.
