Out Wednesday night to get take the foxes at the chicken farm, spotted 3, first one spotted centre field heading to the coop, young dog taken out, 2nd working the hedgerow at the top of the field bordering the road so no safe shot, the 3rd came out of the woodland and before I could fix a shot darted back to ground, one down still and a rerun visit to come
Taken with the CZ457 .17HMR with CCI 17gr hollow point, topped with ATN 4K Pro and Sirius XTL

Nice dog tonight, no lambs for this fella 17 HMR CCI 17gr jacketed hollow point
Popped down to a perm that’s been having lambs taken for an hour mooch and there was 3 rabbits in the field, tell tale sign one darted left away from the wooded area and then under the fence and across back to the hedge line, I turned around to check the lambs in the barn and turned back and there he was stood centre of the fence line, I fumbled getting the rifle as it was out the passenger window and thought it would have scarpered with the knocking about but not, I spotted and he was still there and boom, job done, happy land owner and happy shooter 👍

Out on Friday night, no fox but took a couple of bunnies whilst there, I tried using some different ammo in the HMR, CCI 20gr hollow point, though they zeroed ok on the plate, I missed 2 shots, slipped the usual Federal round in the chamber and hit straight off the bat, twice in a row,
Took it back to the plate to see that the CCI were now not grouping all that well, I thought thank god it’s not me, I will Chuck the CCI in the safe until I have time to thoroughly test them some more as I don’t like to miss, not because I have a big head (well maybe a little) but because it’s not safe to keep missing shots,

Can’t wait to get back out in the field with the pickup and new toys and get back to doing what I love
Thanks to everyone for their support this year, particularly my loyal permissions,
Go enjoy, have fun and don’t drink too much 😉

Stables has an issue with rabbits, the risk that this has to them is the rabbits digging large holes and a horse can fall down injuring them or at worst cause broken legs which can be fatal to them
