The recent warmer weather has instigated an early start to the wasp and ant season this year.

We have received numerous calls over the last week regarding wasp and ant infestations. If you require any assistance or advice please don’t hesitate to get in touch- it is much better to deal with these issues as soon as possible before they are able to get fully established within properties and become a bigger problem.

Wasps - As everyone is aware, wasps can be aggressive and give a nasty sting. Anyone can become allergic to wasp/bees stings at any time in their life even if you have not been affected previously so please be cautious around wasps and watch your pets too. Whilst we fully appreciate wasps play a part within the eco-system, it is not always viable for people to simply leave them alone when they are in close proximity to living spaces for health and safety reasons.

Ants - We have received call outs from many people over the years ago who have tried to get rid of ant infestations themselves first, often with over the counter “ant powder”, before being overwhelmed with the issue and calling us out. We do not recommend the use of ant powder in any circumstance as it is a form of insecticidal powder which is easily ingested/inhaled and absorbed through the skin by humans and animals alike, both pets and non target wildlife. Ant infestations can quickly become well established within properties and can therefore become difficult to deal with. We recommend getting in touch at the first sign of an ant problem so it can be dealt with professionally, swiftly and safely.

We have been very busy in recent weeks with seasonal call outs- especially with wasp call outs. Due to the warmer springtime, the wasps have had a very good start leading to much larger infestations earlier on in the summer season.

Please be very careful if you come across a wasp infestation. They can give you a very nasty sting (or 10!) and - not so fun fact- did you know that regardless of how many times you have been stung in the past with no reaction, your body can develop a bad allergy to wasp venom at any time meaning that you could suffer a severe reaction such as anaphylaxis any time you are stung? Please don’t take the risk and also watch out for your furry friends too!

Please get in touch if you have a problem. It is important to deal with an ant infestation as quickly as possible to get on top of the problem before they get a chance to develop into flying ants.

We are also starting to see the beginning of the wasp season - keep your eyes peeled for wasp nests forming and get in touch if we can be of assistance.

Further to wasps and ant control/eradication, we also deal with all manner of insects and offer knockdown and residual insecticidal treatments as well as odourcide and disinfectant fogging services.
