Swept an open fire at a property in Caernarfon this morning that hadn't had a sweep for a couple of years. I removed two sacks full of soot from the flue! 😲
It's now nice and clean and ready for the new burning season.

In the summer your chimney goes into reverse bringing the hot air from outside in. This can mean the sooty smells from last winter start coming into your house.
The heat also means the smoke evacuation test at the end of your sweep is more challenging as the smoke wants to stay in the stove. To combat this, I'll light some paper to warm up the flue and help the smoke on its way.

Now is a great time to book your sweep so you're ready for the new burning season.

Another before and after photo today. This was a fairly clean flue but you can still see what's built up over the winter.

Now is a great time to get your chimney swept to stop all that soot sitting in the flue over the summer causing damage and smells.

Found this inside a chimney in Dinorwig this week - a bird's nest completely blocking the flue.

This was in a disused flue being swept during a renovation, but a blocked flue in an active chimney, with nowhere for the smoke to go means carbon monoxide can build up inside the property.

If your chimney hasn't been checked recently, it's worth getting it looked at over the Summer before the burning season begins again.
