Did you know that SOLO Cleaning and Property Maintenance Services🧼 is one of Solo Housing social enterprises?

Supported by funding from The National Lottery Community Fund 🎟️, SOLO Cleaning provides training 🎓, qualifications and employment opportunities for people who have experienced homelessness 🏠 or housing instability 🏠. Through hands-on learning 🛠️ and dedicated support, we're helping people build confidence, develop new skills and move towards sustainable employment.

As part of our Fresh Foundations training 🎓, attendees recently learned about the importance of colour-coded cleaning systems 🧽 — a simple but essential professional standard that helps prevent cross-contamination and keeps environments hygienic and safe.

🟥 Red = Toilets & washrooms 🚻

🟨 Yellow = Sinks & bathroom surfaces 🚿

🟦 Blue = General areas including offices & living spaces 🏢

🟩 Green = Kitchens & food preparation areas 🍽️

Using the right cloths, buckets and cleaning products in the correct areas is a small detail that makes a BIG difference in professional cleaning standards ✨.

🧽 Meet Candice — our brilliant Head Cleaner and the queen of colour-coded cleaning! 👑

On Day 3 of our Fresh Foundations training, Candice brought along her fully loaded cleaning cart packed with professional products, colour-coordinated cloths and buckets, sprays, PPE and all the practical know-how needed for professional cleaning.

From explaining why colour systems matter to demonstrating practical techniques used every day in homes and commercial settings, Candice kept everyone engaged from start to finish. Her passion for the role really shines through — and so does her belief in helping others gain confidence and new opportunities.

A massive congratulations to everyone who completed our Fresh Foundations training programme in Diss!

Over the three days, attendees gained practical professional cleaning skills alongside important workplace knowledge including COSHH Level 2 awareness, PPE, customer service and health & safety training.

Every attendee successfully completed the course — a fantastic achievement — and several have already booked additional one-to-one sessions with Kasia to continue developing their skills even further.

It’s been inspiring to see people encouraging each other, building confidence and taking positive steps towards employment opportunities with Solo Cleaning & Maintenance and beyond.
