Earlier this month I headed down to Stratford-upon-Avon for the Annual Trade Show. 🎩🧹

While I was there, I caught up with the MD of — and during our conversation I discovered the brilliant engineer and inventor behind this piece of kit is actually from Padiham… just down the road from me! ⭐️

I think a brew and a proper chat may be needed soon ☕️
Would you like to hear more about the story behind it and how the system works?

In the meantime, if you’d like to learn more about how Recoheat helps improve fuel efficiency, pop over to their website or socials.

And this weekend I’m off to for the trade show — always looking for the best equipment, ideas and innovation to help keep home fires burning bright, efficiently and safely.

I travelled south to Stratford for the The National Association of Chimney Sweeps Trade Show, and Gala Dinner.

As well as meeting and chatting to fellow across the I met with and and invested in a little bit more kit to make sure I give my customers the best through using quality equipment.

🚨 When your stove stops drawing… it’s trying to tell you something 🚨

I was called out to a stove that “just wasn’t working properly” — the concern was a possible bird nest 🪺

After a camera inspection… no nest.
But what I did find was far more concerning 👇

🔥 Flue almost completely blocked (around 85–90%)
🔥 Thick, solid deposits — not your usual soot
🔥 Melted residue and even a coil of plastic recovered
🔥 Severely damaged stove rope (risk of smoke + CO leakage)

⚠️ Burning unsuitable materials (plastics, treated/painted wood, rubbish) doesn’t just damage your stove — it can:

• Block your flue
• Stop your fire drawing properly
• Increase risk of chimney fire
• Put you at risk of carbon monoxide

💬 The scary part? The homeowner had no idea how dangerous the situation had become.

❤️ The positive? It was caught in time.

👉 My advice is always simple:

✔️ Burn the right fuel
✔️ Get your chimney swept at least once a year
✔️ If something doesn’t feel right — get it checked

Your fire should keep you warm… not put your home at risk.

👀 Oooh take a look to see what came out of this chimney.

🔥 All those byproducts of combustion (soot, tar, creosote) need somewhere to go… and if they’re not cleared properly, they stay right where you don’t want them.

📆 and services recommend chimney sweeping at least annually.

A chimney sweep isn’t just about a clean flue, it gives you peace of mind.

And that’s where Wendy the Sweep can help - here to keep home fires burning well and burning safely.
