Hi everyone,
We’ve recently heard from a few of our customers who have had really poor experiences with trade companies, and honestly, it’s sad to hear.
Some have even said they felt too worried to speak up or question the work because they were concerned something bad might come of it. No customer should ever feel like that in their own home.
The tricky thing these days is that a company can have a great-looking website, be listed on trade websites, and still not always give the service you would hope for. So we wanted to share a few simple ways to help protect yourself when choosing a company.
A few things we would always suggest:
Check their Google reviews, especially the recent ones.
Look at whether they are active on social media, showing real videos and photos of their work.
Ask for references from previous customers or similar projects. You are fully within your rights to ask.
Meet them in person first if it is a bigger job.
Get a clear written quote before agreeing to anything.
Be cautious if you feel pressured to pay upfront quickly. A deposit can be normal for some jobs, but pressure tactics are always a red flag.
Trust your gut. If something feels off, it is absolutely okay to walk away.
