We promise reality, not perfection ✅

Today we were over in Whitstable getting these rather heavily contaminated carpets looking their best before the house goes to market. A dozen rats, lizards, big spiders and other pets had caused some pretty gnarly looking carpets.

The only problem? The carpets are 100% wool.

“What’s the issue with wool” I hear you say, is it not the same as cleaning any other carpet?

Quite the opposite: Wool is an absorbent natural protein fibre mainly composed of keratin. The fiber surface can bind with almost anything spilt on it; dyes, tannins and pigments from pretty much anything will create a chemical bond to the yarn and without re-dying, extensive UV light treatments these are usually permanent unless they’re dealt with right away.

This is why it’s important to know what you’re dealing with before you start a job. Far too many companies just book everything in without a scooby of what they’re turning up to.

Us on the other hand make sure that the customer is fully aware of the outcome BEFORE we start. To the best of our ability anyway. We told this customer before starting that the urine stains would likely be permanent and although visually brighter, cleaner and fresher the individual stains would likely only fade a little not disappear entirely.

Letting people know the outcome in advance achieves 2 things:

1: The customer isn’t promised perfection, and they have a realistic theory on how the carpets will look after without being left disappointed. In turn gaining trust, opposed to being promised perfection and being less than happy with the result.

2: Less demand on yourself. There is physically nothing you can do to improve it further than we already have that would cost any less than replacing. So why put pressure on yourself to achieve a result that isn’t there.

In this case. The carpets are “clean” but not damage free, urine has been neutralised and removed but the chemical damage from it is still visible, the customer was aware of what to expect and is happy, job done ⭐️

Not really Carpet cleaning related, but hopefully plenty of you can relate.

In this day and age we all put far too much pressure on ourselves to go to work, put too many hours in, earn money and in turn get burnt out. And by doing all of that we forget the reason why we’re doing it all in the first place.

By doing too much we miss out on special days, moments that you don’t get a second shot at, and genuinely just doing the things that you want to do. We’re fixated on being “busy” having the diary brimmed, and getting a wedge at the end of the week.

For those who are self employed think again why you started this. You went self employed for you. So you didn’t have to be told what time to start work and what time to take your break, so you didn’t have to be “granted” holiday leave, so you had more time for you.

If the bills are paid, work is steady in a turbulent time, you’re still enjoying the work that you do then all you have left is having to to take a step back for yourself.

And without you guys; family, followers, supporters, customers and people that recommend us none of it would be possible and I’m always so grateful for the life that I have and the choices I’m able to make thanks to you.

Love you all ❤️

Green Vomit on Loop pile wool 🤮

Vomit can be hard enough to remove at the best of times. But when you’re dealing with wool it’s a complete different ball game.

You use the wrong process, the wrong product or the wrong company for that matter there is every chance this stain, slap bang in the middle of a busy traffic area is going to be set there for life.

But thankfully this customer chose us. The right company with over a decades worth of industry knowledge, the correct procedures and most importantly the final result the customer desired.

Magic 🧙🏽‍♂️

𝐓𝐰𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐈 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐠𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮:

1: We won’t be the cheapest company you’ll find locally.
2: You won’t find any other locally company that provides as much bang for your buck offering a clean that is in depth as ours.

Yes, you’ll find companies offering cut rate prices for carpet cleaning that’ll be cheaper. But you’ll generally find these companies will be in and out in no time. No insurance, no training, no idea. Usually just picking up a machine online and calling themselves a “Professional carpet cleaner” and cutting a lot of corners leaving you with a less than perfect result.

Being a professional is more than just having all the gear. It’s about providing an unrivalled service, investing in our equipment, investing in ourselves with regular training and providing great results all whilst protecting your home and cleaning safely.

Our 500+ five star reviews hopefully reflect to you all that our customers love what we do, and we hope that in the near future you do too ❤️

Sun burn? ☀️

On a carpet? Surely not?

But it’s something we see a lot of, we see a lot of people in the industry saying “I can’t get these darker areas out” or “Customer has said this area still looks dirty”.

But in fact it’s UV damage. It can happen to most carpets and upholstery and is more predominant in rooms which are south facing and get a lot of sunlight.

What catches many other carpet cleaners out is they will either over wet and over agitate the area which can lead to browning issues and delamination when in fact there’s nothing that can be done to reverse the damage.

Instead of doing that. Do your best to spot these kind of things on your pre-inspection. And pre-qualify with the customer that it’s not going to look a great deal different even after a clean. That way, they’re less disappointed, you feel less under pressure to provide a result that isn’t there and less likely to cause unnecessary further damage.

Teaching you the things that they don’t teach on many courses 😉

Just a reminder to all my friends in the carpet cleaning industry as we’re coming into the warmer weather — stay cool, stay hydrated, and don’t try to be a hero in this heat.

A lot of people don’t realise how physically demanding this job can be. Pushing a wand that’s trying its best to glue itself to the carpet at 100+ degrees while it’s 30 degrees outside can be hard work. Add the humidity, constant movement running up and down stairs, moving furniture etc, and long hours, it can take it out of you fast.

Take breaks when you need them, drink more water than you think you need (especially if you’ve had a few beers over the BH weekend) and look after yourselves out there.

Stay hydrated everyone 🥤

Over the counter “stain cleaners” 👀

Take a look at what they can do when used in excess. They contain high percentages of surfectants and bleaches which will do two things.

1: They’ll temporarily brighten the area you have applied the product to. Making the area you haven’t used it on look awful.
2: Because you’re not actually removing anything you’re just bleaching the colour out give it a couple of weeks and it’ll make the area look 10x worse from all the sticky residue left behind.

Both this Sofa and Carpet from this morning were only a couple of years old, but the detergents left behind from self cleaning create the perfect environment for absolutely everything to stick to the carpets and sofa. From grease from the kitchen on your shoes/slippers to even all the dust from the home clinging to the carpet and not being able to be removed from vacuuming.

Thankfully we were able to put it all right, and save a tonne on having to replace and hopefully now it’s had a proper clean it’ll dissuade any use of these nonsense products in the future.

We are fully booked for May. But if you’d like our help in the coming months please get in touch and we will happily work our magic 🪄
