Two shower trays came to us recently with cracking so heavy they looked like a replacement job. Before anyone reaches for the quote for new trays, here is how a repair like this actually works.

First, the cracks get cleaned right out. We use a Dremel-type tool to clear every bit of debris and open the crack properly, because epoxy will only hold if it has a clean surface to bond to. Next, the crack is filled to full depth with a liquid epoxy and left to cure completely. No rushing this stage.

Then comes the part that separates a repair from a patch. We colour match with a Tennax Grey epoxy paste resin, working it in as veins that follow the natural line of the crack, so the finished repair reads as part of the tray rather than something sitting on top of it. A light polish brings the surface back to a consistent sheen across the whole tray, and finally Fast Seal 60 goes on as a protective sealer, a hard-wearing top coat that guards the repair against water and daily use.

Specialist knowledge and the right materials are the difference between a repair that holds for years and one that fails within months. Back at the Church Hall this week, topping up the surface of a meeting room that gets used hard and often.
First job was a thorough vacuum, pulling up everything the daily footfall leaves behind. Then a full clean, followed by proper drying time, because rushing that step is how a finish fails. With the floor ready, we applied coats of Bona Freshen Up to the lacquered surface, restoring the protection and sheen it had lost.
No dust, no downtime, no fuss. All ready for the next use.

Grey paint wash off. A century of pine back on show.
These floorboards had been hiding for years under a flat grey wash, and by the time we met them they looked tired and lifeless. Underneath was something worth saving: 100 year old pine, full of grain, knots and history.
We stripped the old finish back, sanded the boards dust free, filled the gaps with an acrylic sealant and sealed them with Loba Invisible. That finish is a favourite of ours for exactly this job. It keeps the wood looking raw and unfinished, with no shine, no amber tint, just the natural colour of the pine as it is.
The result is a floor that reads as original rather than restored. Flat, honest, and ready for another 100 years.

Bringing back the Look for this Solid Oak Floor

Last time this Bath homeowner gave DIY sanding a go, and we understood why. But it left the oak floor patchy and left drum marks everywhere. Our team came in with 25 years of know-how and our dust-free sanding system, working the boards back level, pass by pass, until the swirls disappeared and the grain started showing through again. Restoring the Look to an Oak Herringbone Floor in Bristol

This oak herringbone floor had seen better days. Years of wear had left it covered in old stains, dark watermarks and a tired coating that had long stopped doing its job, dull, patchy and frankly embarrassing for a floor with this much character hiding underneath. So we started from scratch. A full professional sanding stripped every bit of that old coating back, right down to bare oak. No shortcuts, no skimming over the problem areas, just a clean, fresh foundation for the timber to shine through on its own terms. For the finish, we applied Loba 2K InvisibleProtect in a two-coat system. It's a water-based, two-component finish engineered specifically to make wood look untreated, no added sheen, no colour shift, just the natural flat raw-wood look that lets the herringbone grain do the talking. Full cure takes 5 days, after which the floor is tough, protected and ready for everyday life. The result speaks for itself: a floor that looks like it's barely been touched, but is better protected than it's ever been. Restoring a Minton Tiled Kitchen in Bristol

We don't get to see many Minton tiled Kitchens, but this one was in a poor state of health. The entranceway tiles had been broken up and were heavily damaged. The Client wanted to go with plain black replacements, so the existing tiles were removed, but were heavily bonded to the floor. We removed the tiles and produced a new sub base for them to sit on. Once done we repaired the existing tiles with replacements and wherever possible resin repairs. The tiles were allowed to bond, before returning to fully clean back. Once cleaned we returned again to seal them.

It has been a lengthy journey to carry out the process, in-between the Clients decoration, but the floor has been given a new lease of life.

Restoring the look to Belgian Blue Limestone Bath top and Vanity unit in Somerset.

We were asked to restore these items as part of a big project to restore the stone work to a premises.

The large amounts of etching and loss of colour meant they were looking sad and unloved.

Fortunately, we love working with Belgian Blue and set about removing the etching via Stone Care Directs Bonastre Magic Renova Pads. The final stage was to impregnate them with Faber's Deep enhancer.

The colour certainly is restored and with the right maintenance they will stay looking good.

​Ever look at a freshly restored wood floor and notice faint, repetitive ripples across the surface? Those are called chatter marks, often left behind by improper sanding equipment or techniques.
​That was exactly the issue with this engineered oak floor! The previous attempt left the surface looking uneven and dulling the natural beauty of the wood.

Restoring Carrera Marble Worktops in Somerset.

We were asked by a Client if we could restore the look of their Carrera Marble worktops, that had lost their shine and were heavily etched.

We set about honing the surfaces first and then used Stone Care Directs Magic Renovation Pads to bring back the shine. Finally we sealed them with Fast Seal 60 to help the surface.

Client was extremely happy with the results.
