I would like to thank everyone on behalf of the Dalgarno family for all the phone calls, cards, messages, and flowers we have all recieved following the recent sad loss of Dod. We have been truly overwhelmed with the amount of people who have gotten intouch with us, each having their own story of how they knew Dod and the sentence that came up again and again was βDod was a true gentleman, always full of helpful advice and always had time for folkβ. He certainly was one of a kind!
I canβt quite believe itβs been a week already since we said our final goodbyes. The sun was shining down on us as Dod had his final hurl from Parkfield, Little Brechin upto Forthill Farm along past Kilgarie, Lundie and on to Edzell Parish Church. Followed on behind by his beloved Mercedes car he bought new 34 years ago. Parked up pride of place outside the church sat a davie brown 1390 just like his first ever tractor he bought brand new from Gillies and Henderson, Forfar back in 1980. The church was full, no spare seats to be had, what a turn out! I could just hear him saying βah these folk here for me, ohh jings!β The service was just perfect! Then back across to the Panny, Dod always loved a visit to the Panny! It was good to get the chance to catch up with so many friends and neighbours, some faces we havenβt seen in a long, long time! The food as always was absolutely delicious and plenty of it. Even some left overs for the piecey box the next day! What a day, from start to finish was just as Dod would of wanted it.
A big Thank you to everyone who came along to help us give him the best send off, as he deserved the very best! A first class day for a first class gentleman, a true legend, our Dod Xx
