To get the job done properly, the DPF unit must be removed from the vehicle, tested, and cleaned accordingly. After cleaning, it needs to be air-flow tested to ensure the DPF unit can work efficiently. After cleaning, the DPF unit must be refitted to the vehicle, and the ECU reset correctly.

Sometimes people are advised to get the DPF removed. This is NOT a good solution for most people as you will be breaking UK law by using the vehicle on public roads with the DPF removed.
