I’ve got some news to share, and I know a lot of you aren’t going to be happy about it.
After over 5 years of detailing full time, I’ve made the decision to take a step away from JB Detailing.
Over those years, this business has given me some of my proudest moments and some of my most painful lessons. It’s introduced me to so many amazing people, opened doors to opportunities I never imagined and, at the same time, constantly tested my patience, persistence and motivation.
I’ve given this business everything I could possibly give. I’ve put my heart into every job, always pushing myself to achieve the best results, making sure people’s motors looked better than brand new and, most importantly, making sure every customer was happy.
But behind all that, there’s also been the constant pressure of wondering whether I’m doing enough, whether the work is good enough and whether I could have done that little bit more.
The truth is, somewhere along the way, I’ve lost the passion I once had for detailing.
There are multiple reasons behind that, and I won’t go into them all, but with another winter approaching, I found myself dreading what was coming rather than looking forward to it.
Anyone who’s worked outdoors through winter will understand. Trying to keep a business afloat through freezing temperatures, constant rain and unpredictable weather, while still maintaining the standards you expect of yourself, can feel like fighting a losing battle.
And after doing it year after year, it takes its toll.
For the past 3 weeks, I’ve been back behind the wheel, driving full time for a local transport firm. I’m working alongside a great set of lads, genuinely enjoying what I’m doing and, for the first time in a while, I’ve got that bit of stability and peace of mind I’ve been missing.
It’s given me the opportunity to focus on building some financial security, enjoying life a little more and planning whatever comes next.
JB Detailing has been a massive chapter of my life.
This business has quite literally seen me grow from a boy into a man. I’ve learnt more about myself, people, business and life through doing this than I ever could have imagined.
And none of it would have been possible without the incredible support I’ve had along the way.
To every single person who’s booked me, recommended me, shared my posts, left a review, stopped for a chat or simply supported what I’ve been doing, I genuinely can’t thank you enough.
I’ve met some brilliant people through this business, many of whom I now consider friends, and that’s something I’ll always be grateful for.
This isn’t necessarily the end of JB Detailing.
I’ll be keeping hold of my setup and, when the weather improves, I’ll still be taking on selected details on the side when time allows. But for now, I won’t be taking on regular bookings or operating full time.
It’s a strange feeling writing this after putting so many years into something I’ve built from the ground up, but I know it’s the right decision for me.
I’m proud of what I’ve achieved, grateful for everything it’s taught me and excited to see what the next chapter brings.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you all for everything.
Shoutout to the people that have helped me every step of the way especially my brother Jamie JB Window Cleaning that originally inspired, motivated and supported me in setting up and getting out there, spent hours helping build, maintain and repair equipment and the trusty transit, love and appreciate you always big dog 🫡❤️
