A recent job where the customer had been experiencing rat activity on and off for the last 9 years.

This was out of the ordinary, the tenant had been told previously that this was an external rat issue. The external perimeter was checked and a source of access was found but due to all the information and evidence provided by the customer I didn't feel it was as simple as proofing of a external hole.

A full inspection internally, externally and of the drainage was conducted which highlighted heavy activity in the disused ground floor toilet. The waste pipe at the rear of the toilet was gnawed which normally indicates a potential drainage issue.

The first drain inspection point checked showed significant signs of rat activity, not only had the rats breached the waste pipe at the rear of the toilet they had also breached the inspection point which provides easy access to the cavity walls.

The rat population was knocked down quickly using a combination of traps and rodenticide, the drainage was then repaired and there was no further fresh evidence. The hole externally was sealed using a rodent proofing material to help prevent any future pest issues.

Due to the extent of the issues a free disinfection spray was conducted to all effected areas to help give the customer a piece of mind.
