Stay safe

Cosy nights and crackling fires are a welcome comfort on colder evenings but it’s important to use them safely.

If your log burner or open fire is back in use, make sure your chimney has been swept and your appliance properly serviced to help reduce the risk of chimney fires.

Keep logs, coal and other fuels stored well away from the heat, and always use a spark guard to stop embers escaping.

Don’t let a preventable chimney fire undo the comfort of your evening.

Just a friendly reminder that if you have a sweep booked in, please don’t use your stove the night before or on the day of the sweep until it’s been completed.

The stove and chimney need to be cool so they can be accessed safely.

It might look nice having your wood stacked up next to your log burner but it is not safe!

If you currently do this, please find a safer place to store your logs.

Our crews were recently called to a fire caused by logs stored too close to a log burner.

Always keep wood, coal, and other fuels at a safe distance and use a spark guard around fire places, open fires and log burning stoves .
