Why do we do a smoke test?

We do this to ensure the flue is clear and to check it draws properly (smoke goes up the chimney rather than filling the room)

As you can see the room is clear of smoke and it's drawing up nicely!

Revisited one of last year's installs today to give it its first sweep.

The end result of our latest installation was different from the original expectation.

During the knockout, we uncovered the original lintel and brickwork, which led the clients to want to preserve the character of the chimney breast.

This was not a problem, and we were able to discuss the options available with the client.

We left the lintel exposed ready to become a room feature and cleaned up the brickwork behind the log burner rather than covering it with a concrete board.

The log burner is a classic 8, and the hearth is farmhouse stone slabs.
