I couldn't say it any better. We have no storage facility left and are unable to empty any septic tanks until the sites reopen. Us smaller tanker companies are really struggling at the moment! Each year it gets a little worse!

South West Water currently has no treatment plants open in Cornwall or Devon, and we want people to be aware of the waste crisis that’s happening right now.

We're tankering waste all the way to Bristol and Somerset just to keep the county functioning at the moment, making 300+ mile round trips for every load.

We're genuinely sorry that our capacity is limited as a result, and we're doing everything we can, but the reality is that this isn't sustainable for Cornwall.

Local businesses are being affected, the environment is suffering, and frankly, it's not good enough.

Cornwall deserves proper waste infrastructure. This crisis shouldn't be happening, and the people and businesses of Cornwall shouldn't be paying the price for it.

We'll keep fighting to serve you as best we can, but this situation needs fixing - and fast.

Cornwall deserves better.

Another fab review :D

We used South West Drains to repair a collapsing section of underground pitch fibre drainage pipe by re-rounding and lining it. Jason and his team came on the date and time they said they would come. They were friendly and efficient.
The work required access from both ends of the pipe in very confined spaces. One end was indoors in a very narrow utility and required a fridge to be moved into the garage and a large chest freezer to be moved so as to give access. Jason and his team willingly did this. (Another company who we had consulted had said that we would have to do this ourselves, which we could not have done). The other end was 3 metres below the manhole and therefore required one of the team to be winched down. When they had completed the work Jason showed us on the CCTV screen what they had done.
After doing the work they cleaned up very well and put the fridge and freezer back. We were very satisfied with them and the work they did, so we are using them for another job and would definitely recommend them. Vikki also was very friendly and helped us with any questions we had.

Dear Jason and Vicky,

As you know we have used your company several times over the last 10 years to sort out the drains at ********, Launceston and each time the service has been excellent. Today, the service from your technician Sam has been absolutely fantastic. Not only did he clear the blockage but found an external rodding point under a patio slab and 4 inches of concrete!

I inherited the flat from my parents in 2012 and had searched high and low for external access to the drains from flats * and * even requesting help from the directors in the way of design plans! However they were less than helpful. The tenant in *******, is excellent, keeps the place immaculate and is always willing to help with problems that crop up. I think we are all in agreement that there is a basic design fault with the system installed allowing sewage to back up into the outlet for flats * and * when the pump fails and is not reinstated within a short period of time and then causing a buildup of residues to block the system which we then had to clear by jetting from the top.

So, for Sam to use his good hearing to work out where there was likely to be a jetting point when he and my husband jetted up from the tank was very impressive and will certainly make life a lot easier in the future for you and us.

I know my husband was not looking forward to the task yesterday based on previous experience but Sam’s welcoming smile and conviction that there had to be an external option, which proved true, made his day. I’m sure Sam will have told you of how they found it. Thank you so much for your cheery dedication to your work!
