6 years ago today I registed Soph and Shine LTD on Companies House and its where it all began. I have truly put my life and soul into the business and can't believe we are on year 6!

Sadly, one of our amazing elderly clients has passed away today 😢 it's always sad for us especially when it's a weekly client who we often see more than family. We all adored Liz and we send well wishes to her lovely family 💔

Food for thought..

Why do cleaners charge so much?!

Thats a question we see time and time again in the cleaning profession. Did you know just to pay staff alone it costs around £17.50ph?

What do cleaners do?

Yes we clean but along with "just cleaning" goes knowledge... Knowledge of products, chemicals, techniques and much much more.

Along with the physcial cleaning also goes running a business, marketing, bookkeeping, managing staff, time spent replying to enquiries etc etc...

So when you employ a "cleaner", you are employing a professional.. Somebody who knows the best products and techniques to get your home/business safe from bacteria/infection control, somebody who knows how to keep your chrome sparkling clean and keep your mould at bay..

Is a cleaner value for money?

It all depends on how you view cleaning professionals...

Do you view us as unskilled? Or do you view us as people who give you the gift of time? People who help take the load off you so you can enjoy your hard earned family time?

So next time you are looking for a cleaning professional... Remember that we arent "just cleaners"... We are professionals 🌟

We are looking to expand our team and have a cleaning vacancy available 🌟

Cleaning experience desired is to a high standard in a domestic setting however, full training will be provided.

🚗 We work around the Blaydon/Newcastle/Wideopen area. Full UK Driving license as well as your own vehicle is essential as you will have to drive to clients homes. We also pay 45p per mile fuel allowance and ensure jobs are as close together as possible to reduce driving time ⛽️

It can be a self employed or employed position, 16hrs per week, generally over 4 days but could do less days with more hours per day if desired. Extra hours may be available.

Wage is £13.50ph+. 👭 you will be working alongside a small friendly team. All uniform, cleaning products and equipment are provided

We care about our clients and the right candidate must have excellent social skills, customer service and reliable.

This is a very physical job so not for the faint hearted. Soph & Shine are an amazing team to be a part of and we all look after each other well.

Late payments are becoming more and more of an issue. I know life is hectic, and you can forget things, I'm guilty of it. However, would you get your nails or hair done or go shopping and not pay for weeks?! No, you pay then and there for the service you receive.

This is mine and my staffs living. Obviously, I always make sure the girls are paid for their hard work, BUT we are a small business and don't make much of a profit, so its me suffering in the long run. Please can all clients make sure they pay on the day of their clean or within 48hrs please 🙏

The last day of 2025! Quickest year yet.

Thank you for all your continued support for my little business 👏

I never set out for Soph & Shine to be a big business and still don't. I love that we are small, I feel it's preferred by clients to have the same friendly faces cleaning their homes. They build our trust and become family 🥰 their pets get at least a good 5 minute cuddle on every visit because they are excited to see us and us them 🐶😺 we love welcoming new members of the family 👶 and hearing about your exciting news. We also love being a helping hand when life is tough or there is bad news.

I may not be present on social media much, but we are a thriving business behind the scenes.

I hope 2026 is healthy and happy for everyone ❤️
