August has been, a month…. That’s all I have to say on the matter. From broken machines, full vans, broken down vans, new contracts, new suppliers, plus all of this and then surprisingly losing a family member and planning a celebration of life 💔it is one we won’t forget🫪🥺🥴

Smart Laundry will be closed today as our family comes together to say goodbye to someone very special to us.

We’ll be taking the day away from the business to attend the funeral and spend time together as a family.

❕An Important Update From Smart Laundry❕

We have made the decision that we will no longer be accepting Asian garments for cleaning.

This isn’t a decision we’ve taken lightly. Over the years we’ve had the privilege of cleaning some truly stunning pieces and we’d like to thank everyone who has trusted us with their garments.

However, after much reflection, we’ve reached the point where we can no longer offer this service.

We are confident in our ability to clean specialist garments, but over time the level of risk involved with many handmade Asian garments has simply become disproportionate to the service we can realistically offer. Unknown fabrics, the absence of care instructions, colour instability, delicate embellishments and the significant amount of administration involved in handling complaints and disputes mean we have made the decision to step away from this type of work.

Many of these garments are individually handmade with unique construction methods and fabric combinations, meaning no two pieces are ever the same. Unfortunately, we’ve experienced issues including dye transfer, embellishments becoming detached or damaging other items during processing, uncertainty over existing stains or previous damage, and disputes despite garments being accepted with a full understanding of the risks involved.

As a small family business, we have to make decisions that allow us to focus our time and resources on the services we can consistently deliver to the highest standard for all of our customers. Continuing to accept these garments is no longer sustainable for us.

We appreciate this news may disappoint some people, but we hope you understand our reasons for making this decision.
