💦 Hot Tub FAQ: "My waterfall is stainless steel, so why is it going rusty?!"
(Just a heads up: The water feature pictured here was tackled by our service department and is NOT a whirlpool bath® brand hot tub. But this is a super common issue we see in the field!)
❓ The Problem: A cascading waterfall is supposed to be relaxing, but an orange, rusty film developing along the metal trim is just frustrating. Shouldn't parts meant for water be rust-proof?
💡 The Answer: It's important to remember that these trims are stainless steel, not stainproof steel! Because your waterfall sits above the water level, it is constantly exposed to the damp air trapped under your hot tub cover. If your water chemistry is acidic or over-sanitized, that trapped air fills with highly corrosive chemical fumes that break down the metal's protective barrier.
✅ The Solution:
Catch it early, and it's an easy fix!
1️⃣ Wipe the trim down with a damp microfibre cloth.
2️⃣ Apply a spa-safe metal polish to restore its shine and protective layer.
3️⃣ The real fix: Test your water and get your pH balanced so the off-gassing stops!
