💧 Hard Water & Limescale – Here’s What You Need to Know 🪨✨

If you live in a hard water area, you’ve probably noticed those white, chalky marks around your bathroom. That’s limescale, and it can build up surprisingly quickly.

Over time, it can:

✨ Build up around taps, showerheads, sinks and plugholes.
🚿 Block tiny holes in showerheads and tap aerators, reducing water flow.
🧼 Make it harder for soap to lather, leaving behind stubborn soap scum.
🔧 Hold moisture against surfaces, which may contribute to wear and shorten the life of your fixtures.
🛁 Leave your skin feeling dry and your hair feeling less soft after washing.

Keeping on top of limescale doesn’t just make your bathroom look cleaner – it also helps keep everything working properly and looking its best. ✨

💡 Top Tip!

For light limescale, soak a cloth or paper towel in white vinegar and wrap it around the affected area (like taps or showerheads). Leave it for 30–60 minutes, then wipe clean, rinse well and buff dry with a microfibre cloth. 🧽✨

✨ A lovely first clean for a brand new fortnightly client today, and what a difference! 🧼🏡

One of the biggest transformations was tackling the heavy limescale that had built up across all of the bathrooms. Seeing those taps, shower screens and fittings shine again is always so satisfying. 🤍🚿

A little tip I always share with my clients… after every shower, use a small plastic squeegee or shower wiper to remove the water from the glass and tiles. It only takes a few seconds but makes a huge difference in preventing limescale from building back up. 💧✨

For regular maintenance, I also recommend using white vinegar. It’s a simple, affordable way to break down limescale without damaging your shower screens or chrome taps. 🍋🫧

A little cleaning tip… 👀 If you ever see the bin, toilet brush or other bits sitting on the toilet, it’s because I’m giving the floor a proper vacuum and mop without anything in the way! 🧼✨

🫧 Fun fact: Bathrooms can be one of the germiest rooms in the house, so regular cleans help keep bacteria, mould and limescale under control! 💙

Sometimes stains, mould, and grubby grout build up over time, but with the right products and a bit of elbow grease, we can make a huge improvement.

💚 A little cleaning fact:
Sometimes mould can’t be completely removed because it has soaked into the silicone sealant. We used a mould remover on this bathroom, and it made a big improvement, but if the mould has been there for too long, the only permanent solution is to remove the old silicone and re-seal it.

The same goes for grout. If it hasn’t been cleaned regularly, it can take several deep cleans to restore it. While we can often get amazing results, some grout won’t return to its original colour and may need re-grouting to look brand new again.

Any business has expenses but a self employed worker has a long list of expenses to pay out for to be able to do their job, not to mention the labour that goes into each job to make your homes or businesses clean.🧼
If we don't work we don't get paid.
We don't get sick pay.
We don't get holiday pay.
We have to charge accordingly
Have you ever considered "why another cleaner charges a lot less?" Either because they haven't thought about the expenses they have to pay out for, maybe they don't have insurance or they ask the client to provide the cleaning products.
Whatever the reason is, all cleaners have expenses to pay and hiring a cleaner for a small amount actually causes harm to their business in the long run.
