It's a long time since we posted on our FB page.. why you might ask? We have been absolutely flat out since January 2025.. we have our regular clients who are in ongoing treatment programmes.. plus we have been working with the HSC, PSNI and local Council authorities on developing Hoarding Protocols.
We have disconnected our phone line because it was ringing too often, people were leaving messages and we weren't able to get back to everyone. Email is the only way to contact us now: [email protected].
We are so grateful that we are busy, but also aware that Hoarding in Northern Ireland is at epic proportions and that is why sadly we are so busy.
We need more dedicated Hoarding Practitioners, CBT specialists, Therapeutic Cleaners etc but we appreciate this job is tough. There are times when you see things that can't be unseen, you need to be able to deal with squalid conditions and not become physically ill yourself, you need to be physically fit, to lift & carry, to move furniture and fill skips, you can't be afraid of mice, rats, cats, dogs or clearing up faeces (human or animal), you need to be ready to unblock a toilet that's been blocked for years and dig someone out of an impenetrable corner of a room where they have become buried.
Sometimes there's a multi-agency approach, other times it's just us, trying to put someone's life back together. Hoarding is never cured, it is only ever managed and reduced, it's a lifelong condition that needs constant support and understanding.
