Hello peoples !! I hope everyone is well, can you believe its March already, crikey time does fly when your knees start to creak.

Im over here working away keeping my boys busy and ive had a wee run of people asking me about 'mastic' replacement, that's silicone to the likes of you and me, but you know everyone has a name for something. For example the Aussies call sweeties, lollies and lollies are called icy poles. Those Americans call things a sidewalk, freeway, garbage can; but we all know what they are "talkin bout".

Hello people, I hope everyone is well! If I had a penny for every time I've been asked when is the right time to get my silicone changed I'd be biting on ole Musk's heels!!

So heres a wee picture - if your silicone is like this, its time to get it changed, in fact it was time to get it changed probably 5 months before it got like this.

Why.. I hear everyone ask, well you gotta remember water will find the smallest hole, gap and work its way through and the havoc it can cause if given time can be £££££££

True story many trips around the sun ago, I moved into my very first home it was an upstairs apartment and I loved it, we all remember our first place right. I decorated the kitchen bright purple. One weekend I headed to Dublin with work and came back Sunday night to my downstairs neighbour pacing the driveway. Her ceiling in her kitchen had just exploded and the whole thing was lying on her kitchen counters, the floor, the hob, plaster was everywhere. She was so cross she thought I had left a tap running. We went upstairs to check and everything was ok in my apartment.

So Monday we have people come out, they have a look at the damage and it appeared that when they were laying floor boards in my kitchen a teeny tiny nail had nicked a pipe and that tiny little hole leaked water for the entire year into the floor below me, I had to move out for a few weeks and the upstairs joints had to be replaced along with all the other things that make up floors and ceilings.

So suck it up spend £90 quid, get your silicone changed and save yourself some heartache and a small fortune not having tiles pop off the wall because damp has seeped up behind them, rotten into your wood and leaked into the ceiling below.
