Two lots of bumble bees happily relocated today.I usually end up with about 30 lots by the end of the summer where they have to be relocated due to just not being in the right place as they can become agitated if disturbed. Also successfully relocated about 6 lots of honey bee swarms this week.Wasp nests are just forming now with the average nest being about the size of a tennis ball but growing rapidly as the queen now stays inside and becomes a breeding machine once her original offspring start foraging for her.So the nests we are dealing with at present are the obvious ones ie garden sheds and where they are close to ceilings and can be heard chewing the plasterboard from the loft above the tenants heads.Other than that it’s been a busy week with the lads off of furlough now and social distancing by pigeon proofing solar panels. Stay safe , have a great weekend and we are here if you need us , atb Jason at Ace pest control

Hi all, honey bees are now swarming and will continue to do so now that we are to get a few days of warm weather.Favourite places are chimneys and roof lines , not ideal when several thousand drop down your chimney but it can happen as I’ve seen it many times . We are here if you need us! Kind regards, Jason

Pest control. Just some advice due to the volume of calls we are receiving regarding especially wasps. It is too early for wasp nests at present ,what we do have is the larger queen wasps looking for somewhere to nest and finding there way into properties. These are all individuals and if you have several in the next few weeks save your money and just let them out of a window ( good for us past controllers)or if you do kill them you have stopped one potential nest this summer. If you are seeing large numbers of β€œwasps” they are either masonary bees or honey bees.M asonary bees use weak brickwork to nest and repointing will solve this issue as it obviously needs repointing anyway. These won’t sting anyway and can normally be found on the sunny side of the property. They will also use air vents or random other holes on your property.Honey bees overwinter and will of been there since last autumn( unlike wasps where every nest dies out in the autumn and is never reused) but bees will be active now coming in and out of the same hole .At some point a β€œswarm” will emerge from the original site and take some of the colony away elsewhere ( hopefully not your chimney which is a favourite )As beekeepers ourselves we will always remove swarms where possible and relocate them to somewhere more suitable.i hope this is of assistance and it really annoys me when other companies charge to come out and take advantage of the client when no work is necessary and it can be resolved or explained by a simple phone call. Our office is open and advice is free should you need it on any pest issue.stay safe, Jason Hillyard
