If the grass is greener on the other side, fair bet is, your water bill is too!

At Typhoon we use 85-90% less water in our washing process, we replace the missing water with 1.2-1.5m XOrbs to gently massage the fabric clean. This is also done at temperature disinfection to destroy the proteins in viruses to render them dead or inert.

Covid-19 is certainly having its toll upon the entire country.

We wanted to take this opportunity to update you, our valued customers on our actions during this unique and challenging period. Our number one priority is always the safety and well-being of both our customers and employees.

As long as possible during these challenging times we will maintain our normal levels of service, supporting our customers for linen hire and laundry service. We would ask for your patience where we are operating with reduced levels of staffing or staff working remotely during this period.

Government health advice is clear that maintaining good hygiene is critical. We are making sure wherever possible that they have plenty of hand sanitiser around the laundry, antiseptic wash at the sinks and are following government advice about isolating staff. We are always delighted to see customers but please don’t be offended if we don’t shake your hand or stand a little further away than usual.

We would ask that if any of you feel unwell or are displaying any of the symptoms of COVID-19 you contact us before visiting so we accommodate you. We can arrange collection of dirty linens in soluble bags if needed. If you are self-isolating and would prefer to speak to us and arrange a ‘contactless’ collection over the phone please call me (Mike) on 07816630891. Vehicle hygiene is also a priority and extra measures are in place to ensure our vehicles and driver are sanitised after every delivery and collection. All dirty linen collected is separated within the van meaning no cross contamination.

All textiles are now being washed using temperature and chemical disinfection which kills 99.99% to ensure they are safe to use.

We will continue to review and update these procedures and follow the government advice as required.

From everyone at Typhoon laundry, thank you for your continued support and please take care of yourselves and each other.

Clothing and towels can offer perfect conditions for nasty bugs to linger and multiply.

As the number of confirmed Coronavirus cases rise in the uk, it’s essential to take extra steps when it comes to your washing to help protect against the spread.

With many home washing machines set at 30 degrees, the temperature isn’t hot enough to kill off the bacteria clinging to your clothes.

Most virus’s can survive at temperatures of 60 degrees, so we recommend washing items like tea towels, bedding, bath towels, gloves, scarfs and children’s clothes on a hot wash sustaining at least 83 degrees for at least 10 mins. We call it the thermowash.

But simply washing at 40 degrees, then tumble drying your clothes can also help kill off any nasties, this also gives you the perfect excuse to iron your clothes for the same reason.

You should also keep your washing machine in peak condition. Many people don’t realise how much dirt and grime it can harbour if it’s just left to do it’s job. To clean your washer, a cup of white vinegar on a 60 degree cycle, at least once per month will bring back the sparkle or as I’m sure you’re all well aware washing machines live longer with Calgon.

Doing laundry is a necessity for most of us but washing and drying clothes, bedding or towels has environmental drawbacks. It often takes a lot of resources to get linens clean, from the water and power used to the potentially harmful chemicals in detergents.
At Typhoon we are doing our best for the environment, pop in and see for yourself!
