Telltale signs following a chimney fire. The soot has been on fire, melting, bubling and causing the honeycomb effect seen here.
There was a lot of soot in this chimney that hadn’t been swept for at least 4 years.
Fortunately the fire was extinguished quickly before it really took hold.
Lesson learned… Is it time to have your open fire or wood burner swept?
(We advise sweeping at least once a year).
