Something a bit different… probably the longest way of moving a hot tub 20 metres.
We moved this hot tub a couple of months ago.
A customer wanted their hot tub moving from one side of the garden to the other. The plan was simple enough. I would turn up on my own and there would be a builder there to help.
Of course, when I arrived there was no builder… and nobody else there either.
The tub weighed around 350kg. I managed to slide it across the decking using a couple of ramps. There was no power available, but luckily I had a generator in the van, so I inflated the airbag, flipped the hot tub onto the sledge and started making progress.
Then I got a chain block out that had been given to us. It was actually the first time I’d ever used it. I tied it to a big tree with a couple of ratchet straps and started pulling.
At this point, I thought, “That’s the hard part done.”
That was until I realised I had to pull about 20 metres of chain just to move the hot tub an inch.
Around 2½ hours later, the hot tub had finally reached the other side of the garden.
Just as I was manoeuvring it into its final position, the builder finally turned up.
“Thanks mate.” 😭😅
Needless to say, the chain block doesn’t come with us anymore.
