Many everyday activities produce emissions and if you do use a stove at home, ensuring you use a modern, Ecodesign compliant stove with dry wood helps ensure you keep emissions to a minimum.⁣

The government has confirmed today that it is NOT considering a ban on domestic burning in England.

This is reassuring news for households that rely on solid fuel burning either as their primary heat source or as a valuable, low carbon, energy grid independent and cost effective secondary heating source.

The announcement comes as the Environmental Improvement Plan 2023 was published in which the government also confirms that it will be tightening limits that new stoves in Smoke Control Areas must meet, and that it is considering extending solid fuel legislation to outdoor burning as well.

The Stove Industry Association (SIA) welcomes these announcements.

Government will also introduce measures that will shift consumers away from more polluting appliances such as open fires and many older stoves, in favour of modern stove appliances.

The simplest way to identify the cleanest and most efficient stove model it to choose a ClearSkies Level 4 or 5 certified appliance.
