Porsche GT4 booked in for its maintenance valet to keep it looking as sharp as it drives. 👌

Then, as if on cue… a bird decided to leave its mark the moment we’d finished drying it. 🤦‍♂️

Fortunately, that’s an easy fix when you catch it quickly. Bird droppings are highly acidic, so removing them as soon as possible helps prevent permanent etching.

Crisis averted. GT4 back to looking exactly as it should. 🔥

This Vauxhall Astra Electric was being prepared for hand-back to the dealership after cigarette smoke had worked its way into the interior.

Smoke odour isn’t something you simply mask with an air freshener. It has to be removed at the source.

Every surface was scrubbed, chemically treated, intensively steam cleaned, before finishing with an ozone treatment to neutralise any remaining odours.

While it was with us, we also machine polished the heavily scratched piano black centre console, restoring the gloss and removing the distracting swirl marks.

Now it’s smelling fresh, looking sharp, and ready for its next owner. 👌

One mistake I see all the time…

Yes, you can use a heat gun to reduce the appearance of bird dropping etching. But almost everyone skips the most important step.

When you apply heat, you’re encouraging the acidic residue trapped within the paint to migrate back towards the surface.

Your paint isn’t completely solid—it has microscopic pores. Think of it like a sponge under a microscope.

Once that residue reaches the surface, you need to wipe it away with a damp microfibre.

Heating it doesn’t make it disappear. It simply gives you the opportunity to remove it.

Another common mistake is jumping straight to sanding.

If the acid is still sitting below the surface, sanding first can leave contamination behind, and in some cases the mark can reappear later.

The correct order is:

✔️ Heat
✔️ Wipe away the residue
✔️ Reassess the damage
✔️ Only then decide if sanding or polishing is actually necessary

Understanding why something works is just as important as knowing how to do it.

Getting the process right is what prevents bigger problems later.

Well, that was an unusual one… the battery doesn’t normally live down there. 🤷‍♂️

Even less ideal when it’s sitting in over 10 litres of diesel.

The client asked, “How are you going to get it out?”

“I’ll siphon it.”

“Won’t you end up with a mouthful of diesel?”

Not if you know the trick. Fill the hose with water first, hold a finger over each end, then lower one end. As the water drains out, it creates enough suction to pull the diesel through without having to suck on the hose.

From there it was a case of plenty of degreaser and steam to break down the diesel, followed by a thorough clean. The only way to fully remove it from the carpet was with the pressure washer, and thankfully the plastic insert made that possible.

Finished off with the wet vacuum, then left everything in the sun to dry and air out properly.

Next stop is the garage for a full inspection of the battery and fuse box to make sure there’s been no lasting damage.

Just another day in the life… you never know what’s turning up next. 👌💪

The new build sites kick up so much dust, there’s just no escaping it.

Fortunately, being on our maintenance scheme means it’s never a problem for long. Regular visits keep the dust, dirt and grime under control, so your car stays looking fresh no matter what the roads throw at it.

If you spill paint in your car, don’t panic.

Grab a bucket of warm water and a few clean towels. Start soaking up and removing as much as you can before it dries. The more you get while it’s fresh, the easier it is to restore—and it could even reduce the cost of putting it right.

Then give me a call.

For this one, Koch Chemie stain remover helped break down the stubborn emulsion, backed up with plenty of steam cleaning, agitation and patience.

Jobs like this are never quick if you want them done properly, but the goal is always the same: to make it look like it never happened.
