Choosing the right cap for your chimney is crucial!

A couple of recent jobs highlighted exactly why.

The first customer could hear a bird flapping around in their flue. On inspection, we found the chimney had been stuffed with newspapers and fitted with an unsuitable cage, allowing a bird to get trapped inside. Unfortunately, the bird had died in the flue. We removed it safely and fitted the correct chimney cap to prevent it happening again.

The second job involved a flexi-lined chimney that hadn’t been fitted with a proper pot hanger, allowing soot to fall down the outside of the flue and onto the top of the stove. We fitted the correct pot hanger and secured everything properly.

Both issues could have been avoided with the right equipment fitted from the start. A small investment now can save a lot of hassle and expense later.

Another job completed and ready for winter! 🔥

I was originally called out to look at fitting caps to a chimney where birds had been getting into the flues. The property had four large 15” chimney pots, and the customer had struggled to find caps to fit, so some cheap cages had been fitted previously.

To solve the problem properly, we had four matching caps specially made to suit the pots. Two were fitted with pot hangers to accommodate the new flexible liners, and two standard caps were fitted to the remaining pots. All caps were painted to match the existing chimney pots, giving a neat and professional finish.

I also replaced a broken fire brick in one of the stoves.

The chimney’s is now bird-proofed, looking the part, and most importantly, ready for the winter months ahead. ❄️🔥

If you’re thinking about getting work done before the winter rush starts, now is the perfect time! 👍

Lots of regular and new customers have been getting their end-of-season chimney sweeps done and are now sitting pretty with chimneys free from soot and ready to beat the winter rush! 🔥🧹

Getting your chimney swept now means one less thing to worry about when the colder weather arrives.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve also been busy with:

✅ Removing inactive bird nests
✅ Supplying and fitting chimney caps to stop our feathered friends from moving back in 🐦🏠
✅ Replacing old and rotten chimney caps
✅ Replacing damaged fire bricks in stoves
✅ Vacuuming and clearing gutters, leaving them free-flowing again
✅ Washing fascia and soffit boards after a long damp winter left them looking a bit worse for wear

If your chimney, stove, gutters, or fascias need some attention, feel free to get in touch.

Thanks again to all our customers for your continued support — your chimney will thank you for it, even if it can’t say so itself! 😊

First year ever taking a football team on, and with how busy work is, it was a big commitment—but one I’m so glad I made. I’ve loved every minute of it, especially getting to watch my own son play week in, week out.

Massive credit to all the lads—so proud of each and every one of them and how far they’ve come this season. To top it all off by winning the cup final today was the perfect way to finish. What a group 👏⚽❤️🖤

Good to see the good weather back to get out for a rip, sore arms tomorrow tho 🥴😂💪🏻

Busy morning today 🫣

Two dangerous installs found in one property — one flexi liner hadn’t reached the top and was starting to unravel, and another stove had a full crack through the top with the vitreous pipe fitted upside down, letting soot escape.

Both stoves around 10 years old and their first ever sweep — definitely time to get them sorted and made safe for winter 🔧🔥

Reminder folks, regular sweeping is about safety as much as anything.
