Customers and technicians alike have been served a raw deal.

The withdrawal of Ficam D has left pest controllers with inferior alternatives, raising risks for homeowners, allergy sufferers, and technicians across the UK.

A beautiful swarm of Honey Bees on a potential customers property this afternoon.

Some unscrupulous pest controllers would charge to remove these, or worse still eradicate them with toxic chemicals.

Here at GEM services that's just not my bag. I'd rather make no money than kill something unnecessarily.

Honey bees are non aggressive, particularly when swarming, and generally won't attack. They do a whole heap of good, besides which none of my insecticides would be labelled for use against them anyway.

If you find a swarm of bees in an awkward location, my organisation would be happy to pass your details onto a friendly bee keeper to come and rehome them.

But remember, BEES AREN'T PESTS.

Wasp season is underway.

Nests are small at this time of year, but anyone that knows me will know that small can be mighty indeed and unlike myself these tiny nests will become the problematic nests of the autumn.

This one was just heading into the nest entrance in the side of a property right next to the main walk way through to the drive way.

We're fast approaching the time that birds start to build nests.

On this property Starlings had been nesting every year in the soffits leading to gutter drainage issues and general nastiness involved with decaying birds nests.

GEM Services teamed up with Norton Property Services recently to proof the fronts of these tiles and replace the rotten fashia board.

Hey presto the Starlings can no longer enter, no harm done and they can go and nest somewhere a bit more convenient for the homeowner.
