✅️ With the severe drop now in temperature there will be a temporary smoking issue on a lot of stoves out there.
📍The below post is for all of our customers who keep their chimneys in good safe condition but sometimes when a cold snap hits a cold spot/plug can get into the flue affecting performance, it is temporary only but please read below for tip on how to help the situation.
🛑 If stove continues to smoke (and flue hasn't been swept for more than a year then call us to have your chimney swept ASAP).

My stove won’t light, and smoke is leaking out into the room; what should I do?
It sounds like you have a cold plug in your chimney. When the chimney gets very cold, an invisible plug of cold air can form in the flue.
This means the chimney is plugged and pushes the smoke back down and out of the stove into the room. This can occur when a chimney has not been used for a while, a sudden change to colder weather and is known to be clean.
The solution to this is straightforward.
First, allow the fire you have created to extinguish. The rapid or normal firing of your stove will not assist in this matter.
Once the fire is out, light a small fire using only kindling and light thin sticks, the idea is to slowly and gently increase the internal temperature of your chimney, which will remove the cold air plug.
Also, what you can do is fully open up the air controls and stove door to allow heat from the room to work its way into the flue for 30 mins prior to lighting and that will also help to release the cold plug.
