Hi guys. I’ve been asked about polishing your bike after coating. You don’t. Once coated all you do is wash with ph neutral shampoo and dry. If you want to give it a wipe down just put a little shampoo in a litre spray bottle, fill with water and give it a wipe down. For customers who bought Alpha Retouch for this, unfortunately it has been discontinued but if you buy Alpha Foam Ceramic Shampoo it’s exactly the same. So a couple of cap fulls in a spray bottle with water and the Alpha Foam is super concentrated and will last a good couple of years. It’s available on the CFC website.

Hi Troops, just a little post to make people aware of some issues with their bikes and how to avoid it happening. A lot of bike have been coming to me lately with corrosion on parts. These are usually brackets, banjo fittings on brake hoses, bolts and Allen screws. These parts are either anodised or electroplated, they are usually thinly coated and crap, they all start corroding from the inside out and are covered in a white powder. This is oxidisation coming through the coating. The only thing that can fix it is replace or rub down and paint. This seems to be on new bikes and not older ones. I’ve had bikes with 40 miles and a week old with this. Manufacturers are scrimping to save money on these parts. To try and prevent this on your bike, dry it after it’s been wet, after being in the rain or after washing. Don’t put it in the garage wet, big mistake. The worst seem to be Yamaha and BMW’ especially GS’s. Stainless fasteners have been substituted for cheap alloy. Invest in a cheap Motorcycle drier, £40 not a big outlay.

Hi folks. As we all know money is tight for everyone at the moment. For me the price of materials has gone up yet again across the board but for the second year in a row I am not raising my prices. I’m keep the current prices and will absorb the cost myself again, so getting your bike done isn’t going up. I hope this will help you make the decision a little easier. Cheers Tom

Customer asked me if I could clean up and coat the wheels on his BMW GS. First my heart sank faster than the Titanic because the gold wheels are an nightmare but as I’ve done so many GS’s I’ve managed to to come up with a method that isn’t too bad, takes a while but I can bring them back if they aren’t completely wrecked.
