Plastix A/S

Congratulations to BMW Group on the launch of the new BMW i3 as the second Neue Klasse model.

At Plastix A/S, we are proud that our PCR material, Oceanix®, helps demonstrate how discarded maritime fishing nets and ropes can be transformed into high-value recycled raw materials for BMW's premium Neue Klasse cars.

BMW highlights a holistic sustainability approach in the vehicle, with approximately 30% secondary materials in the overall vehicle and the use of 30% recycled maritime plastic from used fishing nets and ropes in the engine cover and storage compartment.

This sends an important signal to the market. The future of automotive sustainability will not be driven by electrification alone, but also by real progress in circular materials, design for recycling, and lower-carbon supply chains.

A strong step by BMW in showing that circularity is becoming an integrated part of next-generation premium vehicle design.

Thanks to Mr. Oliver Zipse, Chairman of the Board of Management and CEO of BMW AG, and the BMW team for their continued leadership and commitment to sustainable innovation.

BMW VISION NEUE KLASSE X on Instagram

As launched on SoMe April 22nd BMW’s NEUE KLASSE showcases innovative features that redefine sustainable design.

Seats are made from recycled mono materials, contributing to circularity, and door panels and consoles are made from plant-based, mineral-based, and petroleum-free surface material paving the way for a greener tomorrow. 🌿

But that's not all. For the first time, maritime plastics are being utilized in the production of injection-molded parts. These Green Plastics are sourced from discarded fishing nets & ropes, reshaping the road ahead and reducing waste.

Together, let's drive change and make a positive impact on our planet. 🌎
