The dream

We are on a dive cruise around the Philippines. One night we were sitting on the top deck with the captain, having our “sundowner”…Beautiful, - small islands around, white beaches, coconut trees and silent splashes from the waves. Oh my god, I could stay here forever, I said. The captain looked at me, pointed at an island, said, - “so buy that one” …”How much” I asked…”Well, you can get it for around usd.15.000” he said. We laughed about it, - but it was in our minds from that second.
We came home, started usual work and day…but we were hooked.
We looked on the internet, to find something for sale….. Finally, we saw something. White beach, coconut trees, clear blue water…WEEEEE…our dream, paradise…
We contacted the owner, - and plane tickets were bought…We were on our way to buy land. Bringing my 10 year old son, and my husbands 10 year old daughter. We were “high”, - everything was amazing….

NOTHING in life is easy, - but dreams are free….and we were really dreaming….

In 2004 we found a paradise spot in Busuanga, Philippines. It was a 1,5 km long beach front, - ending in a small hill, where we chose to build our private house.
We came with a huge amount of money, - and believe it or not…USD.900.000,- Still not enough to build and promote a resort even made in native materials. Only the foundation was in stones and concrete. Toilet and bath rooms were also made in concrete, but the roofs were in Cogon. Terraces and everything else were in wood….Termites loved us….
We had separate septics for all cottages, and beautiful terraces outside all of them. We bought native beds, tables and the most beautiful hammocks, - so it was possible to read a good book, just a few meters from the sea.
We made a fantastic restaurant IN the water, - so sitting there in the evening, listening to the waves, watching the sunset, - enjoying lobsters, tuna, sailfish and what else the local fishermen came with, - ending on our homemade outdoor grill.
The buffet was arranged on an old Banca (local wooden boat) painted Philippine blue, with drawings on it. The top were made into the table, made in hard wood.
On top of our kitchen, we had a library - leve a book, and take one….
In the end of the resort, we had our dive center, - and further down the path, we had a staff house, - where everybody had their own room, a big kitchen / dining area. Always so fun to visit.
We had 31 employees, - around on for each visitor. - Still so busy the whole day.
Behind the resort, we had a huge mangrove forrest, - water in there during middle and high tide. Lots of huge Lizards, - as big as a grown wolf. They loved to relax outside the back of the kitchen, hoping for a bite of left overs.
So…Here comes the stories. It will be in parts, - as remembered….some names will be changed.

As hard as it may seem for any reader, - we loved every second of it…..And I would do it over again tomorrow if possible. The people I met, the nature, the diving…

One of the island's biggest draws is the almost guaranteed sightings of Pelagic Thresher Sharks (Alopias pelagicus) and occasional encounters with Bigeye Thresher Sharks (Alopias superciliosus) at Monad Shoal's early morning dive sites. These majestic creatures appear like airplanes ascending from the depths, their sleek bodies gliding towards the cleaning stations, where they're attended to by the industrious Bluestreak Cleaner Wrasse (Labroides dimidiatus) and even the occasional Moon Wrasse (Thalassoma lutescens), which pick parasites and dead tissue from the sharks' skin. The island's crystal-clear waters offer an unparalleled underwater experience."

Mandarin fish - Synchiropus splendidus, possibly the most colorful fish in the sea. Possessing the full rainbow spectrum of red, orange, yellow, green, indigo, blue & violet. It can be found from the Pacific to the Indian Ocean. In the Philippines there are great chances of seeing them during ‘night dives’ at their nocturnal mating habitat amongst finger corals at East Tangat Wreck, Coron; Lighthouse Reef, Malapascua Island & Panagsama Housereef, Moalboal. Best seen on night dives using ‘red torch.’

På fælles side, vil Chris og jeg prøve at give alt fra Dykning, adventures, rejser, mad og opskrifter fra Asien til jer alle, - Vi er begge meget passionerede omkring alt dette og glæder os til at dele en masse spændende....

Coron, Busuanga in Palawan, Philippines is know as the 4th best dive Wreck Diving destination in the world. Japanese WWII shipwrecks. The story goes that the ships were camouflaged with tree branches & leaves. Repeated US reconnaissance missions recognized irregular map readings & decided to bomb them in retaliation for the attacks at Pearl Harbor.

Blot tre måneder inde i året har danskerne brugt, hvad der svarer til et års naturressourcer. Det ville kræve over fire jordkloder, hvis hele verden levede, som vi gør i Danmark.
