Looking back at last year's Texcare France: in the Employment & Training category of “Trophées Texcare France” Sveriges Tvätteriförbund (the Swedish Textile Service Association), alongside the winner FAPET, stood out as a finalist with a powerful vision for the sector’s future. 🌍

With its new Scandinavian quality control model, the association demonstrates how an entire industry can be transformed sustainably - by combining high quality standards with continuous training on ESG topics such as environment, hygiene and governance. Employees become active drivers of change.

Developed through Swedish-Danish collaboration with EU support, the model fosters a shared culture of quality and sustainability across the sector.

The industrial laundry standard is evolving – and with it, the way we evaluate workwear performance.

ISO 15797 has been a cornerstone of textile testing since 2002, enabling reliable simulation of industrial washing processes in the lab. But the industry has changed significantly – and so must the standard.
In part 1 of our two-part interview, Andreas Janning, Deputy Managing Director, Quality Association for Proper Laundry Care Master Textile Cleaner, shares insights into why the revision of ISO 15797 is so important right now – and what’s driving the change.

👉 A new revision is now underway (since last year), aiming to better reflect real-life laundry conditions, from process parameters to mechanical stress.
What’s driving this change?
- Shifts in washing technologies
- The need for more realistic testing conditions
- A stronger alignment with practical laundry operations

The goal: bringing testing closer to reality – and ensuring that workwear truly performs under today’s industrial conditions.

Why do polyester–cotton blended fabrics dry so differently?

While polyester hardly absorbs moisture and dries quickly, cotton binds water deep within its fibre structure and releases it only slowly. At the same time, polyester becomes temperature-sensitive at around 80 °C.

For laundries, this creates a real balancing act between efficiency and textile care.

Industrial textile drying: precision is still the challenge.

Residual moisture and temperature sensors often struggle with complex, multi-layer textiles, because “dry on the outside” doesn’t necessarily mean dry within.
