reART:theURBAN is an international conference that will revolve around the question of what the arts can do for the development of the urban society and the city itself. How to bring the divergent approaches to urban space together? These are the core questions for the conference, which is based on an interdisciplinary approach that brings together renown thinkers, scholars, artists and practition
ers from around the world. Keynotes include the philosopher Slavoj Zizek (Slovenia), the geographer Erik Swyngedouw (Belgium), the urban thinker Charles Landry (UK), the performance researcher Shannon Jackson (US) and the sociologist Dirk Baecker (Germany). Artistic interventions and workshops will be carried out by artists and artist groups like Public Movement (Israel), Blast Theory (UK) and Rimini Protokoll (Germany).
