🏆 BEST FLOAT – Canada Day Parade 2026! 🎉

We are excited to announce that Yellowknives Dene First Nation (YKDFN) was awarded Best Float in this year's Canada Day Parade!

This award is a reflection of the dedication, creativity, and teamwork of so many people who came together to make this vision a reality. A heartfelt thank you to the amazing YKDFN Community Wellness Team, YKDFN Recreation Staff, community members, and volunteers who generously shared their time, talents, and energy throughout the planning, building, decorating, and parade day.

Det’on Cho Kavanaugh and Construction were happy to be able to support YKDFN with this event!

On April 16th, students and faculty from Kaw Tay Whee School in Dettah, NT had the opportunity to tour Det'on Cho Kavanaugh & Det'on Cho Construction Services. After the Kavanaugh shop tour, students experienced a demonstration of a front-load truck tipping a bin. They had a chat with a Heavy Duty Mechanic and Equipment Operator, and afterwards, they visited the Det'on Cho Construction Services shop, where they got to sit in a Loader and ask some questions about equipment. The trip wrapped up with a tour of the Det’on Cho Land Tran Quarry, giving them a chance to see additional trucks, equipment, and operations in action.

The visit offered students a firsthand glimpse into the wide range of careers and operations within Det’on Cho, helping them gain a clearer understanding of potential career paths.
