🪧 One homesick soldier. One little sign. And a whole forest that grew from it! ❤️

With the Alaska Highway approaching its 85th anniversary in 2027, here's one of its most charming roadside stories.

Back in 1942, Carl Lindley, a young American soldier helping to build the highway, was recovering from an injury near Watson Lake. While repairing a directional sign, he added one of his own, pointing home to Danville, Illinois.

Other travellers began doing the same... and today Watson Lake's Sign Post Forest holds more than 90,000 signs from around the world! 🌎

📍 You'll find it at kilometre 980 of the Alaska Highway.

🪧 Planning a 2027 road trip? Bring a little sign from your own hometown and add to the tradition.

📌 Save this stop for your next Yukon adventure!

We love that feeling. It's the same thing that makes welcoming travellers from Canada, the U.S. and Europe at Caribou RV Park so much fun. 😊

Imagine finding a sign from your hometown thousands of kilometres from home!

Now we're curious: If you could add ONE sign, which town would it represent? 👇

🇨🇦 Apparently, Whitehorse is officially “Not Hot”... and we're taking that as a compliment! 😄

Here's something that made us smile!

Whitehorse has become the first Canadian destination ever to make Intrepid Travel's 2027 Not Hot List — a selection of ten destinations around the world worth discovering.

Well, we couldn't agree more! ❤️

Anyone who's travelled the Alaska Highway through the Yukon knows there's something pretty special about this part of the world.

Just five minutes from Caribou RV Park, you'll find Miles Canyon, with its incredible turquoise water and beautiful walking trails.

A little farther along the South Klondike Highway, there's Emerald Lake, another one of those places where you simply have to stop and admire the scenery.

And those are just two examples!

After all these years living here and welcoming travellers from around the world, we still find ourselves discovering beautiful places we hadn't noticed before.

That's the magic of the Yukon. 😊

So, if you're planning an Alaska Highway adventure in 2027, don't rush past Whitehorse. Give yourself a little time to explore.

And we'd love to know: What's the ONE place in the Yukon you'd tell a first-time visitor not to miss? 👇

🚐 Travelling the Alaska Highway after the summer rush? Here's something worth knowing! ❄️

Every year, we meet travellers who discover that the Yukon doesn't quite work the same way in October as it does in July. 😄

As of October 1, the Government of Yukon's serviced campground season is officially over.

Some territorial campgrounds remain accessible, but summer services have ended, and several campground gates are closed.

So if you're travelling north or south this autumn, a little planning goes a long way!

The good news? We're still here! 😊

Caribou RV Park, just south of Whitehorse, continues welcoming winter travellers.

Our winter setup is a little different:

🚐 Sites 12–17 are available for $75/night.

⚡ Power and Wi-Fi are included.

🚿 Washrooms, hot showers and laundry facilities remain available.

📱 Everything is self-service, with online reservations only.

⏰ Arrivals must be before 11 p.m.

Just remember that our office, store, restaurant and sani-dump are closed for the winter.

One more tip from us: Always check 511 Yukon before heading out. Road conditions can change quickly, and winter driving in the North deserves a little extra preparation.

The Alaska Highway is beautiful in every season. You just need to travel differently when winter comes knocking. 😉

Have you ever travelled the Alaska Highway in autumn or winter? We'd love to hear about your experience!

🚐 PLANNING AN ALASKA ROAD TRIP IN 2027? HERE'S SOME GREAT NEWS! 🇺🇸🇨🇦

If Denali National Park is on your bucket list, here's something you'll want to know!

After five years of restricted access because of a massive landslide, the new Pretty Rocks Bridge is finally complete! 🎉

And that means something pretty exciting for next summer.

🏔️ The National Park Service plans to resume bus tours along the FULL 92-mile Denali Park Road in 2027, opening up access to spectacular landscapes and wildlife-viewing areas that have been inaccessible to tour buses since 2021.

Imagine travelling deep into the Alaskan wilderness, surrounded by mountains, with the chance of spotting grizzly bears, moose, caribou and Dall sheep along the way. 🐻🫎

📅 IMPORTANT: Reservations for Denali's 2027 bus tours and campgrounds open December 1, 2026!

A little tip for our fellow RV travellers: you generally cannot drive your own motorhome beyond mile 15 of the park road. The official park buses are the way to explore farther into Denali.

If you're planning to drive the Alaska Highway next summer, this is definitely worth adding to your itinerary!

And remember, the journey through the Yukon is every bit as beautiful as the destination. 😉

Have you visited Denali before? Or is 2027 finally going to be your year? 👇

🚐 One piece of Alaska Highway advice from us: Don't make Haines Junction just a fuel stop!

A recent CBC story caught our eye. More travellers are choosing to stay in the Haines Junction and Kluane region for a few days instead of simply passing through on their way to Alaska.

And we get it!

If you're planning your 2027 road trip, leave yourself some breathing room.

Mät’àtäna Män (Kathleen Lake) is a gorgeous detour just south of town, with mountain scenery you can enjoy right from the lakeshore. There's even an easy boardwalk for those who don't feel like climbing a mountain that day. 😄

Haines Junction is about 160 km west of Whitehorse, so it fits nicely into a southern Yukon road trip. And with Kluane National Park and Reserve on its doorstep, one day can disappear pretty quickly.

That's the thing about the Yukon: the best memories often happen when you stop rushing.

Have you visited Haines Junction? What would you tell a first-time traveller not to miss? 👇

🚐 BIG NEWS FOR RV TRAVELLERS HEADING TO THE YUKON!

Here's something we're really happy to see!

Cruise Canada has announced that it will open a motorhome rental location in Whitehorse in May 2027! 🇨🇦

Why is this such good news?

Because not everyone has the time (or the desire!) to drive thousands of kilometres just to reach the Yukon before their holiday even begins.

Now, more travellers will have the opportunity to fly into Whitehorse, pick up a motorhome and start exploring right away.

And there's certainly no shortage of places to discover!

Emerald Lake, Carcross, Dawson City, Kluane National Park, the Alaska Highway... the list goes on.

After welcoming travellers from around the world at Caribou RV Park, we've noticed one thing over and over again: people often underestimate just how much there is to see in the Yukon.

Many arrive planning to spend only a few days here and leave wishing they'd stayed another week. 😁

So we're genuinely excited about this development. Anything that makes the Yukon more accessible to travellers is good news for our tourism industry and the communities along the way.

And who knows? Perhaps we'll be welcoming some of these new Cruise Canada motorhomes at Caribou RV Park next summer!

Here's a question for you:

If you could pick up a motorhome in Whitehorse and spend two weeks exploring the Yukon and Alaska, where would you go first?

We'd love to hear your ideas!

✨🎶 Some evenings are about great food. Others become memories that last a lifetime. ❤️

What an incredible honour for Chef Sandra to prepare an exclusive five-course private dining experience for one of Canada’s most beloved musical icons of the past 40 years — Mr. Roch Voisine! 🇨🇦

And the timing couldn’t be more special. This coming Saturday, September 26, Roch will be inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame at Toronto’s legendary Massey Hall, alongside some of the greatest names in Canadian music. 🏆🎶

But what made our evening truly extraordinary wasn’t the fame or the accolades.

It was the wonderful conversations, the exchange of life experiences, the shared memories and, above all, the laughter around the table.

At the heart of our five-course dinner was an exceptional bison tenderloin, hunted by our mutual friend Patrick. A beautiful piece of the Yukon, prepared with love by Chef Sandra and shared among friends.

And because no great European dining experience is complete without cheese, we also had the pleasure of presenting a tasting of some truly stunning cheeses from our very own Cultured Fine Cheese. 🧀🍷

Different journeys. Different stories. One table.

Evenings like this remind us why we love what we do. Food is so much more than what we put on a plate. It brings people together, breaks down barriers, creates friendships and turns simple moments into unforgettable memories.

And sometimes, a little restaurant in the Yukon gets to share its passion with someone whose music has touched millions of hearts across generations. ❤️

Thank you, Roch, for your warmth, your stories, your humour and a truly wonderful evening. It was an absolute pleasure and an honour to cook for you.

From our little corner of the Yukon to the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame — congratulations, Roch! 🥂🇨🇦

With love from Chef Sandra and the entire team at Cork & Fork and Cultured Fine Cheese.

❤️ From the bottom of our hearts — thank you. ❤️

Another season has come to an end, and Caribou RV Park and Cork&Fork are now closed until next spring.

Every year, when we finally close the doors, there is this strange mix of relief, exhaustion, pride… and a little sadness too.

Because these places are so much more to us than businesses.

They are long days and very short nights. They are thousands of little problems solved behind the scenes. They are pizzas coming out of the oven, guests arriving after a long drive, busy evenings on the patio, conversations over a b**r, laughter from the campground and familiar faces walking through the door again and again.

And all of that is because of you.

To everyone who stayed with us this summer, whether you came from Whitehorse, across Canada, the United States, Europe or somewhere even farther away: thank you for choosing us and for becoming part of our story.

To our local guests: thank you for supporting us, recommending us, bringing your friends and families, coming back for dinner, pizza, a drink or simply to say hello. Having such incredible support from our own community means more to us than you probably realize.

And then there is our team. ❤️

We could never do this without you.

Thank you for the early mornings, the late nights, the crazy busy days, the laughs, the stress, the flexibility and the countless times you simply stepped in and made things work. You gave so much of yourselves to make our guests feel welcome, and Sandra and I are incredibly grateful and proud of what we achieved together.

There were moments this summer when we wondered how we were going to get everything done… and somehow, together, we always did.

Now it is time to slow down a little.

The ovens are off, the patio is quiet, the campground is settling into winter, and for the first time in months we might even remember what a weekend feels like. 😄

Looking back at this season, we mostly feel one thing:

Grateful.

Grateful for our guests.
Grateful for our locals.
Grateful for our team.
Grateful that we get to do this in this beautiful little corner of the Yukon.

Thank you for an incredible 2026 season and for being part of Caribou RV Park and Cork&Fork.

We’ll miss the noise, the laughter and all of you.

But don’t worry… before we know it, the snow will melt, the pizza oven will be hot again and another Yukon summer will begin. ❤️🌲🍕🍺

See you next spring.

With love and gratitude,
Steve & Sandra
and the entire Caribou RV Park & Cork&Fork team
