Our annual “the holidays are over now we can breathe” staff party.

Bowling. Greasy food. Jeff destroyed us all on the lanes. Lots of laughs and delicious desserts.

From Gen X to Z we talked -how we met our partners and plenty of fish! Landlines and kids these days. Traveling stories. Underage drinking and shenanigans and how we’re lucky to be alive🤣.

We were missing a few people, but had a blast!

Getting Turnover Season Dialled In 💪
Doug and I spent the morning touring buildings, reviewing scopes, and locking in details with a powerhouse crew of local contractors. Month-end in Kelowna gets intense—but when you’re surrounded by people running great businesses and getting things done with integrity, it makes everything worth it.

Big shoutout to the trades and service businesses who show up, communicate clearly, and help us keep these units turning over smoothly. Teamwork makes the maintenance magic happen. ✨

Meet Jess, Co-Founder of Blue Lime

🏡 How It Started

Hi, I’m Jess 👋 I co-founded Blue Lime in July 2019 with my husband Doug. Our goal? Create a job in the Okanagan so Doug could stop traveling for work and be home with our kids every night. We started small—Doug on tools, me doing admin and payroll from the kitchen table—and now here we are, nearly six years later, with a full team and a business we’re proud of. 💙

🌱 Where I Come From

I grew up in a family that ran businesses from the moment I was born. From my parents’ I learned how to treat people, the value of hard work, and to live in the power and freedom of being self-employed. So even though I never planned to run a business, stepping into this role feels like a full circle experience.

🧩 What Lights Me Up

Let’s be honest: property maintenance isn’t my passion. But helping people, solving problems, building a team of cool humans, and figuring out how to make business better? That’s where I thrive. I love systems, I’m embracing a growth mindset more and more, and finding better ways to do things. Running a business feels like one big Lego puzzle— my favourite childhood activity. I still do as an adult.

🧠 What I’m Working On

I’m a real people pleaser learning to set boundaries and say ‘no’ a lot more often and having more true conversations. I’m learning to lean into discomfort, trust myself, and ask for help. Coaching, feedback, and growth mindset are now part of my everyday life—and I’m here for it.

🌴 Outside the Office

Doug, our two kids, family and friends and nature are my greatest joys. Travel, camping, and anything green is my happy place. One day, I see myself half-living in a jungle with macaws and a bird list . 🦜🌿

🎯 Fun Fact

I love LEGO and live off to-do lists. A perfect day involves slow mornings with the family, and exercise, green space, good coffee and food, and crossing things off.

Hi-I’m Kristin. I started with Blue lime this month at Barona as the summer student! My favourite part of the job is being outside in the morning; greeting the residents and listening to the bird sing!

On my free time I enjoy fishing and biking.

In the fall I’ll be starting my next adventure as a pharmacy technician!

Feeling down in the dumps???

Hello my name is Chris. I am the building manager at Caban. I have been working for blue lime maintenance for 4 months and enjoy the team aspect of how the company operates and Doug and Jess have been great bosses.

I take pride in understanding all aspects of how buildings operate on a day to day level from everything from HVAC to pools/spas and even garbage areas. If I see a problem I enjoy the process to solve it and possibly make things run better.

When I am not working I enjoy spending time with my family. We love swimming, skiing and playing hockey. After living here for almost 25 years and traveling the world in my opinion there is no better place to live than here in the Okanagan.
