Looking for a well-paid, hands-on summer job that keeps you outdoors and on the move? Knights Spraying Inc. is hiring Vegetation Management Technicians (VMTs) for the 2026 spray season.

📍 Location: Vermilion & surrounding areas (including Fort McMurray and Fox Creek)
📅 Season: May 5, 2026 – August 28, 2026
💼 Type: Full-time, Seasonal (4-month contract)
💰 Pay: $20.50 – $34.50/hour

🔧 What You’ll Be Doing

• Work outdoors all summer as part of a field crew
• Operate and assist with large spray trucks (F350–F550)
• Apply herbicide solutions as directed
• Navigate rural locations using maps (training provided)
• Complete daily digital Driver Logs, Equipment Inspections, FLHAs & Vegetation Management Reports
• Perform vegetation control tasks such as spraying, hand-picking, w**d trimming & brush cutting

🎓 Training Provided

We prioritize thorough training to set you up for success:
✔ Herbicide application & safety practices
✔ Preventative vehicle maintenance & minor small-engine repair
✔ Western Canadian township map reading
✔ Bear Awareness & field safety

⭐ What We’re Looking For

• Safety-focused, reliable team players
• Comfortable working outdoors and on the road
• Willing to travel up to 75% of the time
• Comfortable working with herbicides while following all safety guidelines

📌 Requirements
✔ Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
✔ Must pass a Drug & Alcohol Test
✔ Secondary School education (preferred)
✔ Eligible to work in Canada

A Recent Win for Our Team—and Alberta Science!

During routine w**d control work at Syncrude’s Mine, vegetation management technician (VMT) Lauren Sayers discovered a well-preserved ammonite fossil dating back at least 100 million years. Her find highlights how our attention to detail on site can contribute to more than just effective vegetation management—we’re also playing a role in bigger discoveries.

The fossil is significant enough that it’s heading to the Royal Tyrrell Museum for provincial preservation. This continues a strong record of paleontological finds on oil sands sites, including a nodosaur in 2011 and Alberta’s oldest Cretaceous plesiosaur in 2023—both found by other operational teams.

It’s a great reminder: by staying focused and observant, we contribute not only to site quality and compliance but to Alberta’s natural history as well.

Knights is saying goodbye to a lot of our summer students this week as they leave to begin classes in September.

Knights Spraying does tree spraying!

The last couple years we have not been able to service as many residential tree spraying jobs but we hope to get to more jobs this year.
Our services also include Ants and Spiders.
Please note that we do not service residential dandelions.
